show airs approximately at 9pm Eastern and Pacific.

ABOUT THE DEMENTIA TOP 20

"I STILL GET DEMENTED AIRS NEW SHOWS FOUR NIGHTS IN A ROW

On Dec 20-23, a novelty radio show will do something no other demented
and comedy radio show has ever done before.

Air four brand-new first-run editions of "ISGD" in a single week!

That's right. Monday through Thursday at 8pm and 11pm Eastern,
or 5pm and 8pm Pacific, host David Tanny spins nearly twelve finger-
busting hours of comedy and novelty Christmas and Hanukkah music
over a four-day period! That's more hours than the entire UPN
prime-time schedule!

And get this, he's going to do it without touching a single track
from Dr. Demento, Bob Rivers, or "Weird Al"!

Check it out this week only on dfsxradio.com!

MOMMY's BROKEN THE DAVID TANNY MIX HEARD ON THE RADIO!!!

On Dec 11, 2004, The eight-year-old "Friggin' Here" show heard
on http://www.modernmusicandmore.com/ on the Internet and on 89.7
in Henrietta, NY, broadcasted a creation of the author of this
newsletter (David Tanny that is.)

Mommy's Broken the David Tanny Mix - Worm Quartet with cameo by
the great Luke Ski.

Shoebox, aka Tim Crist, the singer of The Worm Quartet, co-hosted
the Friggin' Here show, and brought in Tanny's "Stupid Audio 1.0"
CD," which must have been through a bad post office trip since the
CD from hell had some technical problems as host Tomcat played it
on the radio station. This is the first confirmed documentation of
any work by Tanny being broadcasted on an actual radio station.

Thanks Shoebox. Ask me for a raw WAV file. Something must be wrong
with these CD-Rs nowadays.

STAT SERVER UPDATE

Looks like the engineers at live365 dot com are catching up with the
ratings for the songs that were played on dfsx. We use the stats
to determine what songs to keep playing or drop from the
playlist. A minor overhaul of the playlist will be unveiled
early November 1st once we come back from being off the air
after Midnight while we replace the all-Halloween playlist with
  the regular playlist.

The DFSXRadio Lab will have a new show this Wednesday night
as problems have been fixed on the voting stats server.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

RELATED MATTER: STATS USED TO RATE SONGS

Online listeners of the dfsxradio.com stream can vote "thumbs up"
if they like to keep hearing the song, but we especially pay
particular attention to the active listeners who give a song
"thumbs down" when there is a high number of negative votes while
the song plays on the stream.

Also, a high-tuneout on a particular song being played will
provide us with a fact that this song drives listeners away and
we should remove it from the playlist.

So, bear in mind that rating the songs while they play has a
stronger influence on what gets played than just requests alone.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

RELATED MATTER: SONGS BANNED FROM DFSXRADIO

Judging from the feedback of the listeners who gave the songs "thumbs
up" and "thumbs down" while the songs are playing on the stream, I
have come to the conclusion that the following topics are a no-no on
  dfsxradio.com:

Songs about farting, human waste, urine, the act of going in the
toilet, and doing weird unnatural things with the anus have often
gotten bad feedback by listeners giving the songs "thumbs down" or
tuning out while the songs are playing.

So effective immediately, those songs are no longer going to be
featured on DFSXRadio.com's random playlist, or be featured on the
newer editions of the in-house produced "I Still Get Demented", as
  well as the "DFSXRadio Lab."

The songs may still be featured, however, on third party radio shows
such as "The Kahnman Comedy Corner," but won't be played outside of
the third-party radio shows (not on the DFSX random playlist).

We once added the song "Her S--t Don't Stink" by Ken Tuetzky about
two months ago, and we pulled the song due to negative feedback from
the online listeners giving the song "thumbs down" or having a high
number of people tuning out while the song played.

We added the song back by request on October 7th, and once again,
it got negative feedback, five giving it "thumbs down", but only one
giving it "thumbs up", plus three tune outs.

After two weeks, we decided due to lack of online support, as the
number of people supporting the song never materialized by listening
to dfsx's regular playlist and giving it thumbs up when it played,
we had to pull the song from the playlist once again, never to return
  again.

When I can afford to add a second feed such as dfsXL, playing such
songs, given the high cost of paying live365 dot com a monthly fee to
keep just one stream going, I will consider adding songs I want to
play on the second feed that I can't put on the main
  bread-and-butter dfsxradio feed.

Thank you for your patronage and thank you for your support by
  listening to dfsxradio.com's radio stream.

NEW SHOW COMING TO DFSXRADIO SOON?

A radio show that can be heard on the Internet will join the
dfsxradio.com lineup as early as November 18th. Stay tuned for
further details as soon as we can make an official announcement.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

COMING TO DFSXRADIO: Dr. FLOYD

"Fill in the Blank", the show that aired Monday nights on another
station (dementiaradio.org), had a feature called The Radio
Adventures of Dr. Floyd, and beginning this week, you can catch
the episodes of the adventures on dfsxradio.com

The catch: You have to tune in during the Kahnman Comedy Corner
Wednesday nights to catch the adventures. You can do this.

Episode 1: Where it all Begins... Again - Dr. Floyd
First aired On "Fill In The Blank" 4/5/2004

So-Great Debate of 2004 Status 10-22-04

Subject: Please Request "The So-Great Debate of 2004"
for "The Dr. Demento Show"

Yes, friends, American, countrymen, lend me your eyes,
I submitted a new comedy sketch that will probably be
the last thing about the popular subject of the election
of 2004 called "The So-Great Debate of 2004".

But unfortunately, Dr. Demento indicated that he is
retiring from playing any more songs and stuff about
the election of 2004, although more stuff has been produced
since late September worthy of getting airplay.

Should we let the subject end without a proper closure
to the subject? Just like Halloween isn't over until
The Simpsons annual Halloween special airs (Nov 7), the
subject of the election of 2004 isn't over until "Debate"
airs on Dr. Demento.

So please, help "The So-Great Debate of 2004" get on the air
by requesting for Dr. Demento to play the sketch.

Here's where and how to request, and to listen to "the Dr. Demento
Show" (stolen from luke ski's weekly newsletter):

How to REQUEST a song of "the Dr. Demento Show":
On-Line: http://www.clamhead.com/drdrequest.html
E-mail: drdemento@drdemento.com
Phone, "the Odd Tune Hotline": 1-562-ODD-TUNE
Snail Mail: "the Dr. Demento Show", PO Box 884, Culver City, CA 90232.
Please make your request for "The So-Great Debate of 2004"
by David Tanny today.

Please support funny music by listening to "the Dr. Demento Show"
every week, and letting the station you're listening to it on
know that you love the show and appreciate their continuing to
play it. If the show is not on the radio in your area, contact
your favorite local station and let them know that you want them
to pick up the show. Then have 100 other people in your area that
feel the same way do the same. "Dementia forever, dementia for life!"

Big Change Next Week on DFSXRadio.com

Due to popular demand, DFSXRadio.com is reinstating a Halloween
song marathon, but only on a part-time basis.

Two days after I posted the word that there will be NO ALL HALLOWEEN
DFSXRADIO THIS YEAR, I received a flood of e-mail requests begging
me to put it on.

As a compromise, here's what I will be doing next week.

I will be selecting some 200 of my favorite Halloween songs
and stuff of all time. Most of the Dr. Demento favorites will be
on the Halloween blocks.

Monday 25 and Tuesday 26, ISGD will be pre-empted for an evening
marathon of Halloween music. The time slot will be extended
and will air from 8pm Eastern/5pm Pacific, until
2am Eastern/11pm Pacific. There will be no taping of the ISGD
show anyway since my time is short due to those BoSox and Yankees
extra inning games taking up all of my time.

(UPDATED)
Wednesday 27, the Kahnman Comedy Corner wanted to take a week off
to give him more time to finish the show, so, as a consequence,
The dfsxradio Lab will also be bumped in favor of more
Halloween music from 8pm-4am Eastern.

Thursday 28, part of the no-repeat Thursday will be replaced
with all Halloween music from 8pm-4am Eastern.

Friday 29, a mini-marathon of Halloween music from 2 or 4pm Eastern
time until Saturday morning at 11am Eastern. Note that the DFSX
Top Nine Countdown will still be airing Friday 1pm Eastern,
Saturday 11am Eastern, and Sunday 11pm Eastern.

Saturday 30, all Halloween music from NOON Eastern until
Sunday 11pm Eastern.

NOTE: Daylight Saving Time ends at 2am October 31, so there's one
extra hour of Halloween music to enjoy.

Monday November 1, ISGD returns with an all-Election Day special
at 8pm and 11pm Eastern.

Plus ISGD has all new shows every Tuesday, as well as Mondays
to catch up with some of the new music that's been coming to dfsx.

Enjoy the Halloween songs.

Tuesday Night ISGD Reruns Return August 3

Due to popular demand from people who missed some of the ISGD shows,
we're setting aside a time slot where you can request and hear the
past ISGD shows (from Apr 26 to present) Also, the first Monday
in Aug and Sep are also reruns, so go ahead to dfsxradio.com and
let the programmer know what shows you want to run again!

With Mon-Thu nights scheduled up, Fri-Sun are available for future
use, or just enjoy the randomized playlist in prime-time while you
entertain a party with dfsx playing. Anyone for dementia dance
  mix blocks?

---------------------------------------------------------------------

PROBLEM WITH STUDIO LIVE 365 LOADER FIXED

If some of the song titles that are playing look truncated, it's
because due to computer problems with windowsupdate, we had to use
another means to convert and upload the mp3s onto the radio station
space, meaning, we had to batch downconvert and save each mp3 into
a smaller version (24-22-mono) so that the engineers can upload
the songs onto the stream. Cooledit 2000 truncates the ID3v2 tags
and saves the shorter truncated ID3v1 tags when it saves a file.
Normally, we would have used MMJB to reconvert them back, but
like they say, we just had too much stuff to do in too short time.

NEWLY REDESIGNED HOME PAGE

http://www.dfsxradio.com/9100.htm has been redesigned to highlight
the links better, most of the album covers have been moved over
to the new Album Library page here to cut on load time.

  http://www.dfsxradio.com/9150.htm

This new Album Library page highlights up to five albums of each
year by displaying CD covers. Great for high-speed Internet
  users.

NO SPONGY DANCE on DFSX...YET

Yes, we know. You want to hear "The Spongy Dance" by the great
Luke Ski...but we can't air it!!!

Why? Simple. We don't have a usuable copy so we can play it, and no,
we're not settling for a subpar radio station Internet feed full
of sound compression and crap AM fidelity to put on our 22khz
hi-fi mono feed. No way. The song sounds good or it doesn't get on!
  Simple as that.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

SICK OF REPEATS? NO REPEAT THURSDAYS ON DFSX

That's right! No more listening to "Spam" or "You Might Be a
Redneck" more than once on Thursdays as DFSXRadio.com presents
  No Repeat Thursdays.

Listen to DFSX all day from Thursday at 6am Eastern (3am Pacific)
for 23 1/2 hours without hearing a single song or comedy bit
more than once! No specialty shows are scheduled. No chit-chat or
anything. Just non-stop no-repeat comedy and novelty.

With more than 5,000 songs in our collection, why repeat anyway?

No Repeat Thursdays are one more reason to tune in the DFSXRadio.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

GOT A CD TO SELL? TRY THE NEW DFSXRADIO BANNER PROGRAM

Want to stand out? Only a big wide banner will do the job.

Chaston and Groditski are the first clients to take advantage of
the new way to publicize their albums on the dfsxradio.com website.
The 480 x 60 banners are highly visible and are randomized to
display a different banner when the page is reloaded (1 in 7 so far).

The banners are placed at the top of each page on dfsxradio.com.
Also on top are direct links to see all the sponsors and how to
get a banner on the website.

People can design their own banner or the webmaster can do it for
  them at no extra charge.

Other specialized websites I author such as sandiegoradionews.com
may get their own version of the banner program.

New Whimsical Will Summer Movie Tribute Kicks Off ISGD Rerun 7-5-04

Whimsical Will's 19th annual Summer Movie tribute will air on
the July 4 edition of the Dr. Demento radio show, then on July 5,
WW's break-in interview makes its dfsxradio.com debut just before
a rerun of ISGD airs in its usual timeslot, just after 7:55pm Eastern
and Pacific Times to be safe because it's the very first thing that
will be played. An announcer will briefly introduce the tribute,
then on with the ISGD rerun.

You can also visit whimsicalwill.com after July 4th when he has
the tribute available for on-demand streaming.

A rerun of ISGD from the following dates will air on the day after
Independence Day, which is a holiday, and what a better way to spend
a holiday without fireworks shows (because they're on the 4th) than
to spend an evening listening to a ISGD show you may have missed.

Here are the show dates that you may vote for:

Show 04-17: April 26 (return of ISGD)
     Show 04-18: May 3 (Mothers)
     Show 04-19: May 10
     Show 04-20: May 17
     Show 04-21: May 24 (Dr. Demento's Basement Tapes #12)
Show 04-22: May 31 (TV Guide Top 25 Cult TV Shows Ranked)
Show 04-23: June 7 (Fun With Censorship)
     Show 04-24: June 14 (Fathers)
     Show 04-25: June 21 (Summer)

To vote, please go to the request page and select a button
for the show you want to hear.

  http://www.dfsxradio.com/9991.htm

Then on July 5th, tune in to ISGD from the beginning to catch the
latest WW movie tribute, which clocks in just over two minutes,
followed by the most popular requested ISGD rerun.
