PAST ANNOUNCEMENTS

Covering the year 2005 Part 1

---------------------------------------------------------------------

DFSX MERCHANDISE STORE HAS NEW STUFF...SOME OLD STUFF IS GONE FOREVER!

What happened to the old DFSX bumper stickers? They're gone as
of last Saturday. Hope you got them to sell at markup on ebay.

But don't despair, because the DFSXRadio Store has tons of new crap
such as buttons, clocks, t-shirts, tote bags, and other goodies,
some of which say stuff other than dfsxradio.

The bumper stickers are now sporting a special message for those
in the San Diego area asking readers to vote Yes on Proposition A
to transfer the Mt. Soledad War Memorial (cross and all) to the
federal government. New dfsx sticker designs will appear after
  July 25.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

DFSXRADIO.COM GETS A PARTIAL MAKEOVER

The website is now easier to naviate than ever. We stole the idea
from some competeting Clear Channel websites for the design, who in
turn stole some of our ideas for their websites. Radio is a business
game of stealing from somebody else.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

NEW KMCC and DGB SECTIONS

The new design allows the webmaster to create two new sections
devoted to two radio shows, Kahn Man's Comedy Corner, and the Best of
Dave's Gone By, each section with links to their own playlists and
information about their related websites. Check them out in the menu
section of many of the pages on dfsxradio.com

ALL NEW ISGD SHOWS MONDAYS AND TUESDAYS!

For the month of June when the networks are in reruns, ISGD Tuesdays
goes all-first runs in June, as well as Mondays. That's eight new
ISGD shows, including four supersized editions covering television
blues, and alternative lifestyles to commemorate Gay Pride month.

DFSX Lab Results for May 4, 2005

Some radio stations such as Jack FM or someone-else's-name FM have
stopped caring about the songs YOU want them to play. We think that
sucks. Listeners of dfsxradio.com decide what songs we should play
and what songs should get thrown away with our bimonthly Humpday
  Special called "The Lab."

Which songs made the playlist and the Top 20 ballot? Which didn't?
Thanks for voting. The next airing for The Lab will be May 25, 2005
with all but one new song.

The object of the Lab is to get a reading by the listeners on their
thoughts on each of the songs in the context of whether they would
like to hear it on dfsx or not. Some of the songs that failed may
  work well on another station.

There are still some radio stations that aren't afraid of taking
chances on new music. dfsxradio.com is one of them that listens.

  Legend:
+ means someone voted thumbs up
    - means someone voted thumbs down
d means someone tuned out while the song was playing, also counts
      as one thumb down
blank means nobody voted on the song at all.

  TRY AGAIN MAY 25:
New Car Smell - The Arrogant Worms / Toast

  PASS:
+4-1 Raccoon Startler - The Frantics / Official Bootleg CD
+2-1 The Pirate Song live at ALCON 3 - Tony Goldmark featuring the
great Luke Ski / Forgotten Fishheads Volume 69
+2-1 Not the End - Aaron Ackerson / The Sexiest Man on Earth
+4-1d2 Paste - The Blow Kings / Crown Jewels

  FAIL:
-3 Ann Lee - Jamie Anderson / A Promise of Light
+1-1 Jughead Jones - Screech & Bif / Country Cussin'

+1-2 Faith - Jamie Anderson / A Promise of Light

WHAT IS WHIMSICAL WILL's 20th SUMMER MOVIE ADVENTURE?

If it was related to Star Wars III, d.t. would have heard it by now.
Hopefully, it can be squeezed in for the May 16th Star Wars ISGD
special.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

SPECIAL DEMENTED CINCO DE MAYO RESURRECTION ZONE
After the #1 song of the week, listen to the Demented Resurrection
Zone segment following the Demented Top 20 where a bunch of weird
songs will be played in honor of Cinco de Mayo.
Also being played in the segment are two new DFSX I.D. sweepers
  featuring Conan O'Brien.

CH-CH-CHANGES COMING TO DFSXRADIO

Don't get mad because someone ... JACKS ... with your station!
Switch to dfsxradio.com for intelligent and fun music.

Starting on May 4th, the schedule will change a bit.

The Wednesday airings of "The Humpday Special" will shift to
9am, 4pm, and 11pm, while "The DFSX Time Machine" will air at
1pm, 7pm, and 10pm through September.

A new show to be announced will replace the "Time Machine" when new
episodes of that series air, but "Time Machine" will air in those time
periods at least once a month, or air as a "Humpday Special" in some
weeks.

Thursdays, "Dave's Gone By" will stay at 5pm and 8pm, but a third
airing of the show will air Thursday mornings at MID (late Wednesday
night).

The "Demented Top 20", however, will begin airing almost on time at
6pm and 9pm Thursdays, but beginning on May 6th, it will also air
Fridays at 11am.

dfsxradio.com, a San Diego-based Internet radio station playing songs
that matter.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

HERE COMES THE KAHNMAN AGAIN

Tyrone Kahn, host of "The Kahnman Comedy Corner", has produced
two new installments, #22 and #23, of his Wednesday night radio show.

Show #22 will air on May 4 and May 11
Show #23 will air on May 18 and May 25 (subject: baseball)

No word when any more new shows will be produced, but Tyrone is
working on Show #24 with the subject of Star Wars in time for the
III Sith movie that's coming out next month.

DFSX TIME MACHINE RETURNS as a WEEKLY SERIES

The DFSX Time Machine, which ran as as two-hour series in 2003,
is returning this week on dfsxradio.com with weekly one-hour install-
ments counting down the top 12 demented songs and stuff of the year.

Check it out at the times listed in the THIS WEEK section below...

---------------------------------------------------------------------

NEW SHOW SUGGESTIONS:

  Weird New Wave 80's Show
  Funny SciFi and Filk Hour
  Blue Collar/Country Comedy Hour
  Four Play Hour

OTHER IDEAS JUST ADDED (not on poll)
  That O.B. Ranger/70's Music Show
Demented Stream of Conciousness (like the Six Degrees of Dementia
     but lasts an hour)
  Dave's Stand-Up Comedy Collection
Joker-FM (like Jack FM except d.t. plays anything he feels like it
even if it strays from the format!)

A COUPLE OF ISSUES TO ADDRESS

These came in Friday, but here's the deal with some of what's been
asked recently.

1) The infrequent airings or repeats of "The Lab" on Wednesdays.
We've decided to go with a new format for the time slot and
retitle it "The Humpday Special" featuring one or two airings
of "The Lab", as well as the other older "Time Machine" feature,
plus we added a new series to the wheel called "Four-Play" where
we play several hits from four of the most popular demented
comedians and musicians at a time. Check this newsletter for
   the schedule.

2) Has dfsx turned into a talk radio station that plays comedy?
Well, I thought about what I wanted to do Thursdays at 8pm/11pm
Eastern on dfsx and I notice that Tony Goldmark has a wild and
popular show on dementiaradio.org, and I wanted to put something
on that doesn't really compete with that show opposite it.
I like Tony and he's kind of enough to air his show twice so
that I can hear his show when I'm home around 7 or 8pm
   Thursday nights.

I thought hard and decided that there was this Dave Going By
on his Long Island radio station that airs at at pretty early time
(4pm Western time when most of us are in traffic or still
finishing up work), and he's coming up with some interesting
musical guests and interviews that are not heard anywhere
else in the broadcast industry. I thought that "Dave's Gone By"
would be a perfect show to counter Tony Goldmark at two
extremes. We have Dave doing some comedy, but there's some
interesting commentaries that he has to offer, as well as
interviews with some people that have been overlooked by the
mainstream media. We get tastes of other kinds of music that
I like to enjoy such as folk or contemporary that has something
unique to offer in the world of music.

If a lot of people are listening to Tony, then I'll go for
another kind of audience for Dave. Also, since Dave has new shows
on WGBB 1240 Thursday nights at 7pm Eastern, then people can
switch to dfsxradio and catch a past Dave show on dfsxradio.com
at 8pm. Nice flow of the audience, which leads to the Dementia
Top 20 introducing the listeners what kinds of hot comedy and
dementia is out there today, or they can turn it off and watch
   CSI or The Apprentice (ouch!)

Well, look at dementiaradio. They play an hour or two of techno
and electronica, which is also a break from the format of
dementia and comedy, but I like that kind of music as well,
but it's too wild for dfsx to play. It doesn't mean that they
turned into a techno station that plays dementia.

3) Why some songs are removed from the Dementia Top 20 ballot while
some of my songs are on the ballot? This one came in by one of
the artists involved I don't wish to name, but here's the deal.
The poll is for the listeners of the station. It's not for the
musicians. This is a gauge for the listener's song preferences.
The reason some of the songs get removed is because, as they are
also part of the regular playlist, at least two listeners voted
the song off within four weeks, or at least four people tuned out
while the song played, triggering a flag that suggests that the
song is either disliked or no longer popular. Therefore, the song
gets removed from the playlist, and since the listeners don't care
for the song anymore as proven by their physical actions, they get
removed from the Top 20 Ballot as well.

Also, songs over six months old that don't get voted on are also
removed from the Top 20 Ballot because they're past their prime.

I'm also gauging the listener's interest in some of my songs that
are featured on "Stupid Audio 1.0' that I'm selling from my
website at http://www.dfsxradio.com/, but the rub is that they are
not part of the playlist, rather, I'm giving my listeners a chance
to hear some of my songs and stuff only during the Dementia Top 20
show if enough people simply vote for them. Like the other songs,
they will be removed from the ballot in July if nobody votes for
them in a month, and after that, songs from "Stupid Audio 2.0"
scheduled for July release will be put on the ballot.

I don't care how well my stuff does on my own poll. Please be
honest about this. If you want to keep hearing some of my stuff
you can't download on the Top 20, simply check a box for the song
every week until you get tired of it.

The best tracks may be part of an upcoming "Best of Stupid Audio"
   in 2006.

Musicians can get the listeners to vote on the songs (note that
I didn't say FOR the songs) by simply
telling them to tune in to dfsxradio.com and clicking the thumb
up or down to state your preference of the song being played.

DFSX is a station for the listeners. If something sucks, let me
know by voting it down and it's yanked. I recently had to yank a
few songs (including some from the Dr. Demento Show) that I
added in the past two weeks from the playlist and the ballot
because the listeners didn't like them.

And to be sure I don't end up with a rigged ballot, I set the
limit to four songs per artist, so that the voters have to think
(with their brains as it demands) about what songs they like
and should get onto the Top 20. This prevents "Weirdalmination"

Some of the more polished musicians want me to tell them what
songs that my listeners like or dislike after the songs get
enough airplay. Some are using my findings to determine
whether the songs will be suitable to sell on their official CD
releases, saving them some money in the long run by not releasing
songs that get poor reviews. You got to test out the songs
somewhere and let the listeners decide whether it rules or sucks.
I want the musicians to have a CD put out where all of the tracks
say rules, not one with 2-3 rules and 12-14 sucks or they won't
get sold. Most albums sold today have only 2-3 songs that the
listener likes. The land of dementia has a higher standard.
At least 80 percent rules should be enough.

Some of the bombs end up as part of artist basement CD series
for fans of the artist to enjoy as part of a fan club. Some people
will collect anything, regardless of reviews.

   Rule:
Two thumbs down or four tuneouts = the song is gone.

The honor system works. Don't lie or it will hurt you in the long
   run.

BULLETIN....BULLETIN....BULLETIN....BULLETIN

The "Star Trek Volume 1" edition of ISGD will repeat on March 8 due
to e-mail reports that listeners couldn't listen because the server
was full. This edition of "ISGD" broke every friggin' record for
a dfsxradio.com broadcast (guess they didn't care about the One Day
at a Time reunion) from February 22nd, with some of the songs getting
as many as 214 listeners (including the 3am eastern sneak preview
airing).

So, to please those who were unable to tune in (or some really wanted
to see what Valerie Bertinelli at 45 looked like vs when she was 15
on another channel), dfsx will repeat the "Star Trek Volume One" show
on March the 8th and possibly again on April 26th (my birthday) when
ISGD normally repeats earlier shows.

Thank you for listening. Sorry some of the free listeners couldn't
come in as there is a live365 dot com imposed limit of 100 streams at
a time for free listeners (not my limit).

BTW: just before the Star Wars III movie comes out, there will be
a supersized Star Wars edition of ISGD. More details coming in May.
