PAST ANNOUNCEMENTS

Covering the year 2006 Part 1

New Streaming Format to Come July 1, 2006

You can read all about it here:

http://www.dfsxradio.com/9102.htm

56K Selected For June 30

Are you ready for broadband? Better get DSL or cable modem because DFSX is going stereo and in better fidelity on June 30th!

After two weeks of asking, I selected to use the mp3 stream of 56kbps-22khz-stereo for dfsxradio.com when the stream gets converted.

When DFSX started, it was in stereo, but at 11khz fidelity, the music sounded like crap! The kbps rate was 24 as it is today, but at 2am on June 30th, DFSX will be shut down so that engineers and helpers can help me upload all of the reripped songs at the new bitrate of 56k stereo in as little time as possible.

I considered mp3PRO, but even after three years, the format is still not widely supported by Apple or other players. I considered 32kbps-11khz-stereo since that was as close to the original stereo feed, but only one person preferred that rate.

People suggested other bitrates and hz that are not available for me to use.

So, after two weeks, dfsx will be going to 56k stereo on June 30.

Little Orphan Archie Cancelled by DFSX (May 29)

You e-mailed and we listened. After five weeks, dfsx had to cancel the Little Orphan Archie show due to lack of interest by the listeners. You can still listen to the show on other stations by visiting the LOA website here:
http://www.qzvx.com/

Steve Jarrott Show Officially Cancelled (Updated May 24)

This just into the dfsx newsdesk...

Steve Jarrott's syndicated radio show has been cancelled by the host.

Jarrott, who launched his own comedy talk and music radio show late last year for Internet stations to carry, has cancelled his radio show and his website provider earlier today due to lack of money.

Jarrott's show was heard locally on dfsxradio.com Thursday nights. It was scheduled to return to the dfsx lineup in September. The DFSX Time Machine will move to Thursday nights in July.

From Steve Jarrott:

"My Friends,

"Things have not gone very well nor have they picked up any. In fact, if anything they've gotten worse. Nearly two weeks have gone by without so much as a slight possibility for a job. In the end, the money (what little of it is left) will not last forever and as a result, I've had to cancel my website provider and the Steve Jarrott website. So, it is no longer there and you may need to make the necessary adjustments to your own website.

"The wife and I are also looking at the strong possibility of having to move out of here (after having just moved in) and to head down to Florida to stay with family until things start to look better and job offers start coming my way. To that end, it is with heartfelt sadness that I must finally come to the realization that there is just no hope for the show to continue. The Steve Jarrott Show is now officially canceled.

"I would hope that sometime in the future (if and when things start to look up) that I can once again pick up where we left off and to again be carried on your station where I have enjoyed keeping you all laughing for these past few months. You have given me such great support in addition to a valuable friendship I will carry with me in the days, months, and years ahead. Please know that I do not make this decision lightly. I was looking forward to my June 3 return and even had a local celebrity signed up to join me. But, as John Lennon once said; "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans..."

"So, with a kindred heart and a final curtain call, I bid you all farewell -- until we can meet again. We shall, however, always remain a sturdy bond within our little circle of friends.

"The mikes are off, and the lights are dimmed; one last time from the Steve Jarrott News Desk, good night."

Your Friend,
Steven D. McBrayer, Sr.
(AKA Steve Jarrott)

Tuesday ISGD to Disappear in July!

Starting in July, the "I Still Get Demented" radio show will be heard only on Monday nights. This is to free up Tuesday nights as an open X-Pod night.

Steve Jarrott Show On Suspension

Host Jarrott has suspended production until he gets another job. In the meantime, reruns of The Best of Dave's Gone By will air in the Thursday at 10pm ET time period.

Kahnman Comedy Corner Returning This Fall

I just got word from host Tyrone Kahn that he will be resuming production of his weekly radio show called "Kahnman's Comedy Corner" but no definite date has been set to air them on dfsx.

Note that starting in July, reruns of Kahnman will be taking a break and the DFSX Time Machine will move to Thursdays at 10pm ET/PT, opening up Wednesday nights for the X-Pod to run!

New Show Coming to DFSXRadio.com April 30

"Little Orphan Archie" is a new show featuring a mix of nostalgia, oldies, and comedy music. The show will be debuting on DFSXRadio.com and will be running on Sunday nights from 8pm-MID Eastern Time, 7pm-11pm Central, and 5pm-9pm Pacific Time. Jason Remington hosts, with Lennie the Cabbie doing the funny news.

DFSX Time Machine Not Leaving

The DFSX Time Machine will air its final new subject at the end of June, but due to e-mail demand, the show will be staying on the schedule in reruns beginning in July. In case you missed a year, e-mail me at dfsx@dfsxradio.com and request a year to be run during the summer.

New Playlist Pages Now Uploaded

You asked for dfsxradio to make it easier for you to find playlists for the specialty shows that run. That wish finally came true earlier this week. Each show will have its own section as well as linking to its own playlists. Just start at dfsxradio.com for the list of specialty shows, plus a look at the newly-redesigned logo.

D.T. the EXTRA TERRESTRIAL HOST

NOTE: this show will NOT be on dfsxradio. This will air on WQMA
1520AM in Marks, MS.

 Details here:
 http://www.dfsxradio.com/9130.htm

Hear David Tanny on a radio station in the Delta Valley (at least on
their Internet stream.)

D.T. hosts a seven-hour special "Christmas Fun 101" this Friday
December 23rd on radio station WQMA (Q1520) in Marks, MS and on their
stream at http://www.q1520radio.com/. You can listen to CF101 at:
 Eastern: 6pm-1am
 Central: 5pm-MID
 Mountain: 4pm-11pm
 Pacific: 3pm-10pm.

Christmas Fun 101 will feature the songs and artists listed at a page
on the DFSXRadio website at http://www.dfsxradio.com/9130.htm.
Among those are comedy Christmas and Hanukkah songs and sketches by
artists such as Bob Rivers, Bob and Doug McKenzie, Tom Lehrer,
Allan Sherman, Cheech and Chong, Ian Butler, Tyrone Kahn, Sudden Death,
the great Luke Ski, Throwing Toasters, South Park, Whimsical Will,
Stan Freberg, The Arrogant Worms, Eric "Smooth-E" Schwartz,
Buck Howdy, and 100 more including a comedy Christmas song by the host
David Tanny that was snuck in somehow (hey's it's my show, folks).

Jason the programmer at WQMA needed a show for his radio station's
12 Days of Christmas holiday special lineup and I decided to whip up
a show for his radio station three weeks ago called the "Christmas
Fun 101" (which won't be heard on dfsxradio.) More details about his
holiday lineup can be found at http://www.q1520radio.com/ including
eight hours of Dr. Demento following my special Christmas Eve Morning.

The Christmas Fun 101 page also serves as a thank you to the many
comedy music recording artists that I have met on the Internet in the
past 11 years since I've discovered rec.music.dementia and featured
on my own Internet radio station dfsxradio.com as well as my website
davesfunstuff.com.

The 101 list of funny Christmas songs was arbitrarily selected
by yours truly and also includes a selection of some of my favorite
funny Hanukkah songs of all time including the 25-year-old "Hanukkah
Rocks", the first of its kind, by Gefilte Joe and the Fish.

For more information about the songs featured on CF101, please see
the CF 101 page on DFSX right here and make a donation or purchase a CD:

WE GOT A PROBLEM!

Last week from Sep 4-10, one or more persons sharing the same
computer ISP with an IP address of 66.190.131.192 tried to stuff the
ballot with votes for The Japanese Kidnapped My Son by Johnny Jones.
Since the rule on the ballot clearly states "One vote per computer
per week (your IP address is transmitted when you vote)...", additional
ballot submissions would erase the previous ballot sharing the same
IP address 66.190.131.192. The previous votes were tossed away so
that the stuffing of the ballot would not happen as it is not fair
to our listeners and visitors of the radio station dfsx who are kind
enough to restrict their voting visits to once in a seven day period
(Sun MID-Sat 11:59pm Eastern Time).
Here's proof that one person voted five times from the same IP:

I'm guessing that its very likely that this voter isn't telling
his friends to vote for his song on their own computers or to tune
in to dfsxradio to listen to the stream. I do not like people who
decide to violate the stated rules by making up hotmail and yahoo
mail accounts to give a false impression that they are coming from
different people, when in fact they're all from the same computer.

I've been putting up with this abuse for several weeks, and I have
decided to disqualify the song from the Top 50 of the year as well
as to kick the song off of the Top 20 ballot form.

I did get one vote for the song from someone other than somebody from
the IP address named above:

This form was submitted: Sep 08 2005 / 07:16:55

And so, the official count for votes for that song for the week is 2.
Just two. Not six. Just two.

 End of story.

IT CAME ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2005

NEW FRIDAY BLOCK: D.T. PLAYS ANYTHING HE HAS!

"D.T.'s CD Dump" is a new block of songs, but the difference is that
they're stuff so rare and deep that I'm not sure whether I should
play them or not, but you get to vote on the songs!

Tune in to dfsxradio.com Friday nights at 8pm Eastern and 5pm Pacific
for "D.T.'s CD Dump". It's a worldwide music meeting you can
participate in.

All you have to do during the mega long block is to vote thumbs up or
thumbs down on anything that I have playing in the stream. Songs will
get pulled off the stream once I have enough votes for each song clearly
indicating whether I should keep or dump the song.

I'll be playing the deepest stuff in my comedy novelty music collection.
Anything from nostalgia comedy to stand up to sketches to rare stuff
from familiar artists to stuff from complete unknowns. Some may join
the playlist or be featured in a specialty show. Others will be gone
forever, never to be heard on dfsx ever again!

The series begins Friday, August 26, 2005.

The block starts at 8pm Eastern and 5pm Pacific.

The block ends at 3am Eastern and MID Pacific.

JUST IN: LAB CANCELLED, HUMPDAY GOES ON HIATUS

August 24 was going to be the date the DFSX Radio Lab had its final
showing. We just got word by the programmer that the August 10
installment was the final airing of the series.

Also, September 7th is the final airing of the Humpday Special
as that series is going on hiatus and may return sometime in 2006.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

PLANNED SHOWS ON HOLD

Due to unexpected personal matters, the recently-announced
new series "The O.B. Ranger and Friends" and "Whimsical Will
Mega Demented News" have been put on hold indefinitely.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

SNEAK PEEK OF NEW SERIES SEPTEMBER 7.

In place of the airing of "The Humpday Special", a pilot episode
of a new series will be airing in place of the cancelled
"DFSX Radio Lab" series. What is it? We'll tell you later.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

BEST OF ISGD 2004 TO CONTINUE EVERY TUESDAY

Due to popular requests, we're reediting and rerunning the 2004
editions of the ISGD show most every Tuesday, except for one new
ISGD edition supersizing the subject of Star Wars Volume Two on
 September 6th.

Being edited out of the ISGD shows are features we plan on spinning
off onto their own shows such as Whimsical Will's Demented News,
The O.B. Ranger, and songs that didn't test so well on this station.

Being retained are features such as "Six Degrees of Dementia" which
we plan on resurrecting someday as soon as we get more ideas.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

DFSX RADIO LAB CANCELLED

Due to lack of new material from comedy CDs, the Humpday Special
occasional feature, "DFSX Radio Lab", has been cancelled.

The airings scheduled for August 10 and 24 will be the final
installments for the Lab series, which spends 60 minutes playing
new songs for listeners to vote on, but due to lack of qualifyable
submissions (i.e.: artists that fit the scope of the station), the
 series has been cancelled.

Repeats of earlier Humpday specials will fill out the space alloted
for the Lab series, as well as more new specials.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
