IntroWhimsical Will, aka William Simpson (no relation to Jessica), is the host of the weekly installments of funny news called "The Demented News" heard only on the "Dr. Demento Show". Will has been doing the DN since 1992 on the national edition of the Dr. D show, but first begun doing the weekly DN reports in 1987 on a local radio station in Los Angeles while Dr. D was once on a L.A. area station. The DN continues to run on the syndicated Dr. D show.Will also does break-in style comedy recordings pioneered by the late Dickie Goodman (famous for Mr. Jaws and The Flying Saucer). A break-in style recording is where a host (Will or Dickie) asks questions related to a certain theme, and an excerpt of a popular hit recording provides an answer to his question. Each summer since 1986, Will has been doing a Summer Movie Adventure starting with the lamented "Howard the Duck" movie and continuing on with adventures based on "Batman", "Jurassic Park," "X-Men", and "Star Wars". He has been a member of the Dr. Demento Show since 1980 around the same year as "Weird Al" Yankovic first recorded his classic "Another One Rides the Bus" live on the old KMET version of the Dr. D show, ushering in a new wave of demented musicians and comedians in 1980. Will has released several CDs full of his recordings sold on his website whimsicalwill.com including several 80s comedy bits, an anniversary salute to his Demented News, and his collection of Summer Movie Adventures updated each year (he will need two CDs soon) with a new one from the current year.
