Amazon.com: This Philadelphia singer is in love with language. Verbiage spews out of Deirdre Flint as if she were a caffeine-addled linguist. Unable to resist good fun and the choice pun, Flint trips and traipses through life's little indignities with unabashed zest, addressing everything from cheerleaders to footwear to large bosoms (or the lack thereof). One particularly delightful couplet: "I'm well-bred and you're, well...not." Seven words, seven syllables...devastating. --Steven Stolder
Album Description: Bridesmaid Dresses, crushes on roller rink guards, disappointing past lives and dead beat boob fairies are just a few of the subjects explored on this Philadelphia-area singer/songwriter's debut CD. From humor to poignancy and back again, these 13 tracks will delight and move you.
Deirdre Flint Tidbits: Deirdre Flint is a Philadephia-based satrical folk singer. She took up the guitar as an elementary school teacher when she found out that her fifth graders in Washington D.C. loved to sing. Soon, she was penning satrical songs for an older crowd. Her love for travel (and, well, money) led her to taking a position teaching college English in Kongju, Korea for a year and a half. During that time, she was able to save up enough money to find the production of a full length CD.
The "Shuffleboard Queens" was released in June of 1999 and made the monthly top 50 CD's played on Folkradio.org. Her "Cheerleader" song was played on the June 6, 1999 Dr. Demento Show.
In November 1999, Deirdre played to an enthusiastic crowd as one of twenty formal showcasers at the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance. She was also a 1999 Lillith Fair Finalist.
