Please visit Dana's website: www.cowswithguns.com Dana Lyons is the singer/songwriter responsible for the hit-song, "Cows With Guns". Cows swept across Australia, hitting #2 on the Country Music charts, and ringing in at #28 for the year on Australia's nationally broadcast Triple-J radio. Cows debuted on Dr. Demento's Funny Five on Super Bowl Sunday, and stayed in it all year, ending up in the #1 spot for the year! The origin of the song, "Cows With Guns" is a mysterious one. Early one summer morning in 1994, Dana awoke from a dream. He had been visited by the great Cosmic Cow. Thus "Cows With Guns" was born. Dana is not new to comedy. In 1986, his song "Our State Is A Dumpsite" took the Northwest by storm. Washington's Legislature placed the song in it's 1989 Centennial SongBook, recognizing it as one of the 75 most important songs in Washington State's history. In 1989, Dana first graced the Dr. Demento Funny Five count-down with his modern-day wild west frontier tune, "RV". Over the past 15 years he has performed at grange halls, schools, community centers, colleges, and nuclear dump sites in virtually all 50 states. His international touring has included tours in Canada, Australia & New Zealand, Siberia & Kazakhstan, and New Jersey. Penguin released a comic book version of Cows With Guns in March 1998. His six releases include Our State Is A Dumpsite (1985), Animal (1988), At Night They Howl At The Moon (1990), Turn Of The Wrench (1993) and Cows With Guns (1996) and Cows With Guns, The Cow Pie Nation Cowpilation (1998).
