In 1923, Actor Ted Knight (Tadeus Wladyslaw Konopka) was born. A two-time Emmy Award winner for his role on TVʹs “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” he also starred in the series “Too Close for Comfort” and “The Ted Knight Show.” He also had a bit part in Alfred Hitchcockʹs 1960 thriller “Psycho,” as well as a role in the comedy “Caddyshack.” He died on August 26, 1986.

In 1935, Byron Haines, a halfback for the University of Washington, scored all the points as the Huskies defeated Southern California 6-2. He scored all the points for his team — and the other team as well. He was responsible for Washingtonʹs touchdown and he was pushed over the goal line giving USC a safety.

In 1941, WKRP In Cincinnatti (psuedo-event, not the TV show air date) signed on the airwaves, the day the mythical radio station went on the air (Pearl Harbor Bombing Date).
