Math Terms

summand + summand = sum
addend + addend = sum
augend + addend = sum

minuend - subtrahend = difference

Matching terms with those of addition:
minuend (sum) - subtrahend (addend) = difference (augend)

factor × factor = product
multiplier × multiplicand = product

dividend × divisor = fraction, quotient or ratio.
numerator × denominator = fraction, quotient or ratio.

Matching terms with those of multiplication:
dividend (product) × divisor (multiplicand) = quotient (multiplier)

base ↑ exponent = power
or
base^exponent = power

^degree√(radicand) = root
or
radicand ↓ degree = root

Matching terms with those of exponentiation
radicand (power) ↓ degree (exponent) = root (base)

Think of it as a way to help you find the value of the exponent if the base and power values are known.

log_base[antilogarithm] = logarithm

Matching terms with those of exponentiation
log_{base (base)}[antilogarithm (power)] = logarithm (exponent)
