37. Gilligan's Mother-in-Law

A native maiden sets her sights on Gilligan. Her mom is played by Henny Backus, whose husband Jim portrays Thurston Howell III.

In a beauty contest, the Skipper favors Ginger; Mr. Howell, his wife; and the Professor, Mary Ann. The deciding vote is Gilligan's, but he's sure to hurt someone's feelings.

39. The Little Dictator

Nehemiah Persoff plays an exiled dictator ruling the castaways in an episode that series creator Sherwood Schwartz calls his favorite. The story's fleshed out with an imaginative dream sequence and typical “Gilligan” shtick, but according to Schwartz, “the serious theme was quite evident.”

The castaways' fortunes are at a low ebb, as the Professor's findings indicate the island is sinking. The solution: build an ark to escape.

43. Castaway Pictures Presents

Using salvaged motion-picture equipment, the castaways make an arty---and hammy---film about their shipwrecked plight.

44. Agonized Labor

Who doesn't want to be a millionaire? Certainly not Thurston Howell III, who fears that his industrial empire has collapsed. He's really down in the dumps, and his fellow castaways seek to cheer him up.

45. Nyet, Nyet---Not Yet

Distrust clouds the relationship between the castaways and two Russian cosmonauts, who have accidentally landed on the island.

While fishing in the lagoon, Gilligan reels in a World War II mine, which suddenly starts ticking---and can't be deactivated.

51. Erika Tiffany-Smith to the Rescue

Zsa Zsa Gabor portrays a yachting socialite who intends to turn the island into a resort---and winds up falling for the Professor.

An undersea telephone cable washes ashore, giving the castaways hope of rigging it to make a long-distance call for help.

Misunderstanding Gilligan's lament, Mary Ann fears that she's dying. She's not, but the radio has reported that her boyfriend has eloped. Mary Ann: Dawn Wells. Gilligan: Bob Denver.

55. Seer Gilligan

Thanks to dining on rare berries, Gilligan can read minds. Soon, the other castaways start hastily munching---and angrily bickering.

56. Love Me, Love My Skipper

Plans for the Howells' annual society gala run afoul of the Skipper, who hasn't received an invitation and thinks he's being snubbed.

57. Gilligan's Living Doll

A downed robot could help the castaways. All it has to do is carry a message to Hawaii---by walking there on the ocean floor.

A lion that's loose on the island befriends Gilligan, who treats its injured paw. But other castaways sure look good enough to eat.

61. Operation Steam Heat

The discovery of a hot-water spring indicates the presence of a volcano, which the Professor determines is ready to erupt.

62. Will the Real Mr. Howell Please Stand Up?
First Airdate: 3/17/1966
Jim Backus has a dual role: as Howell, and as an impostor back in the States who's posing as him---and spending his money.

63. Ghost-a-Go-Go

Richard Kiel (who portrayed James Bond's nemesis Jaws) plays a ghostly figure trying to scare the castaways off the isle.

64. Allergy Time

Itching and sneezing fits plague the Skipper, who believes he's allergic---to Gilligan. Then the Professor has a similar reaction, and eventually, so do the other castaways.

Imagine Gilligan's mind in Howell's body. That's among the experiments of a mad doctor (Vito Scotti), who also exchanges the minds and bodies of Mrs. Howell and the Skipper, and Mary Ann and the Professor. I

Rays from a grounded meteor age trees 50 years in seven days, causing Gilligan to dream about that aging's impact on the castaways.
