In April of 2011, ABC canceled two soaps, "All My Children" and "One Life to Live," which made up half of its daytime lineup.

The lineup from "All My Children" through "General Hospital" had been intact since January 16, 1978.

When "All My Children" left the lineup, the entire three-soap lineup would have been intact for 33 years and 8 months. It's a record for a network lineup on American TV and its unlikely to be repeated anywhere and anytime else since then.

The final episode of "AMC" aired on September 23, 2011. The 1 ET, 12 CT/PT slot was replaced with "The Chew" on that date.

The final episode of "OLTL" aired on January 13, 2012. The 2 ET, 1 CT/PT slot was replaced with "The Revolution" on that date.

On September 10, ABC moved "GH" an hour earlier to 2 ET/1 CT/PT. It gave the 3 ET, 2 CT/PT slot to local stations.

Their plan is for the affiliates to purchase a new show hosted by Katie Couric that Disney placed into syndication. Note that when a show is offered to TV stations via syndication, not just the same affiliated stations will necessarily get the rights to air the show. Unfortunately for Disney, it never paid off as Katie was a flop, and as predicted, ABC has lost its daytime network hour to their affiliates possibly forever.

In September of 2014, some ABC owned and operated stations plus some affiliates elect to take a late feed of "General Hospital" to air at 3 ET, 2 CT/PT. We'll list the alternative time slots hereafter.
