Update July 12, 2022Beta Testing The New 80's Datebook! We're working on a decade-based Big Datebook using the database from that file, except, we're using events and pop chart peaks of the 1980's decade. This is in beta. May have bugs. No holidays or celebrity birthdays in it! Not all pages are yet uploaded! If it all goes well, we'll bring up the ideas for the 70's Datebook and the 90's Datebook.
Update May 5, 2022Dave's Fun Stuff in Spanish was officially launched on May 5, 2022. Check it out!
New Website Relaunches (March 13, 2021)Four web sections have returned! Check out Celebrity Birthdays a2z, Super Birth Chronology, Super Birth and Death Chronology, and finally, Super Death Chronology.
Updates (November 27, 2020)The music videos portion of The Living Blog has been renamed as The TLB Pop Memories Blog to avoid confusion with The Living Blog updates on this page.
Goodbye Demented Datebook, Hello Offbeat Datebook (October 24, 2020)After almost 26 years in use, the "Demented Datebook" name is being retired. After a lot of thought, I determined that the word "demented", meant as a tribute to Dr. Demento @drdemento has run its course and it was time for a name change.
With the word "dementia" and "demented" meaning much more aligned with a mental illness rather than to describe a category of music, the time felt right for me to retire the name after using it as part of my own version of Today in History since January of 1995.
It originally started in USENET and moved on to mailing lists and then a website, but beginning today, you're going to be seeing a new name, "Offbeat Datebook", propagating all over my davesfunstuffiverse as it slowly displaces "Demented Datebook" in most places. Already I changed two of my groups on Facebook from "Dementia Videos" to "Unusual Videos" and the "Demented Datebook" to another new spinoff, "The Big Datebook".
So after all these years, it's time to make the change to a new name for an internet institution since the early days of the World Wide Web when it was just on a separate part of the Internet called USENET. Once again, "Demented Datebook" is now "Offbeat Datebook". No need to reset the bookmarks for it. See it at http://www.davesfunstuff.com/a-mb/2080.htm for now.
Updates (October 15, 2020)New neighborhood has been launched: Number City.
Updates (October 11, 2020)We added two new neighborhoods to our city.
"Unicode Mesa" is now on a folder on the Dave's Fun Stuff domain.
"Silicon Cajon" is the third spin-off of the "Stuff" subdomain. Over a dozen pages that are related to computer and coding stuff is now seen in this new neighborhood. The other two spin-offs are "Unicode Mesa" and "Fun With Math Strip."
Some new icons for the "Silicon" neighborhood are now active.
The Living Blog Debuts (July 4, 2020)Today marks the debut of a project I've been working on for the past several years and I'm modestly presenting the debut of The Living Blog, and welcome to it.
First up are some songs that peaked on various pop singles charts from around the world as well as an anniversary of the debut of a long time syndicated radio show.
Some update on this: I replaced the width and height of the youtube video embeds with a CSS style tag and linked the tag to a CSS script in the header. When you use your phone, it displays the youtube videos in reduced size so that it fits the width of the screen. When you rotate the phone, the width of the video widens up a bit.
For those who use the desktop computer or tablet with a screen of at least 800 pixels wide, you will see the full width of the youtube videos.
Updates (July 4, 2020)Several website domains had been rerouted internally overnight. Most were down because I moved the spaces where the domains point to, then I had to log in to the domain panel and reroute the pointers to the new locations of their web spaces.
The Rock Birthdays link of the day has been added to this page.
The Datebook locations from the davesfunstuff website have changed to new locations. The domains for mega#/birthdays . com and demented/datebook . com point to these new locations as well. You can still acceess several of the Datebooks from any of the three website domains.
Some sections may be coming back in the future. I'll keep you posted.
Updates (July 3, 2020)Some little used subdomains have been dropped and their sub domains deactivated.
Several sections of Super Birthdays have also been dropped in order to speed up website updates.
Some sections are physically migrating into a subdirectory of the davesfunstuff domain.
Theme subdirectories are in the works. This is reminiscent of the old defunct neighborhoods of GeoCities.
Some links are not yet functioning or are reaching dead subdomains and pages. Please be patient. We're finding as many bugs as we can.
The bulky Calendars sections have been dropped from the active websites. They might be offered as a paid download in the future. Since there are just 14 calendar arrangements (7 365-day calendars, and 7 366-day calendars), the future section would look much more slim.
Updates (July 2, 2020)Corrected a mis-titled link to Sports Birthdays
Added more section pages on the domain davesfunstuff.com
Moved Internet Speed Test, Bookmarks, and Your Screen Size to the davesfunstuff domain.
turned some of the subpages into sections on the davesfunstuff domain.
