In 2000, Will Smithʹs staring turn in “Wild Wild West” won him a few not-so-glamorous nods from the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation, a group which annually selects the yearʹs worst films, actors and songs. The 20th Annual Razzie Awards were announced in Beverly Hills, California, with Smith and his “West” co-star, Kevin Kline, taking home a Razzie for Worst On-screen Couple of 1999. Smith also shared a Razzie for Worst “Original” Song with Stevie Wonder and Kool Moe Dee for the title track to the Barry Sonnenfeld directed western. The film also received Razzies for Worst Picture and Worst Screenplay of 1999, while Sonnenfeld was named Worst Director. The Razzie for worst actor went to Adam Sandler for his role as “an amazingly idiotic adoptive father” in “Big Daddy,” and Heather Donahueʹs portrayal of “the increasingly irksome director of a doomed documentary” in “The Blair Witch Project” got the worst actress nod. Worst supporting actors were Denise Richards of “The World is Not Enough” and Jar-Jar Binks (voice by Ahmed Best) of the “Star Wars” prequel.
