What It's About: Crammed with enough emotional trauma and heartbreak to fill an entire country-western album, it's hard to believe this sitcom has any room left for laughs. Somehow, though, Bonnie Franklin (as Ann Romano, recently divorced mother of two) and Pat Harrington Jr. (as building super/Don Juan-abee Schneider) pack plenty of good times into each episode. Of course, they get lots of help from Romano's headstrong teenage daughters, played by Mackenzie Phillips (as Julie) and Valerie Bertinelli (as shapely younger sister Barbara). Other lovable members of the comic family include Coach's Shelley Fabares as bitchy boss Francine Webster and Howard Hesseman, who made music offscreen with Franklin after WKRP's signal went dead. So rediscover the joys and heartaches of life in the late '70s and early '80s. See Bertinelli before she became Mrs. Eddie Van Halen.
