On this date, ABC has its first second game show since they canceled "Pyramid" in 1980. It debuts "Trivia Trap" in the 11 ET, 10 CT/PT slot. It also moved "Family Feud" to the 11:30 ET, 10:30 CT/PT, but that ran opposite the second half of the popular "Price is Right", also a Goodson-Todman production.

ABC moved "Loving" an hour back to 12:30 ET, 11:30 CT/PT, and put "Ryan's Hope" on at 12 ET, 11 CT/PT, a time slot often pre-empted on the East coast for local news. Both "FF" and "RH" would suffer in the ratings with these moves.

Going to the end of the year, due to declining ratings and affiliate clearance problems, P&G, the producer of "Edge", could no longer afford to produce the show, and it and ABC announced that the show would conclude at the end of the year.

The 4 ET, 3 CT/PT time slot was then given back to local affiliates.
