1982-06-04 The Entertainment Channel (PAY) was launched.
1982-06-21 SNC (Satellite News Channel) was launched.
1982-06-30 Cable Health Network was launched.
1982-09-00 USA Network went 24 hours a day sometime in the fall.
1982-09-13 Channel 51 San Diego was launched.
1982-10-01 ONTV went 24 hours a day on channel 52 in Los Angeles and 57 in San Diego.

1982-10-28 Satcom 5 satellite was launched.
1982-11-01 Playboy Channel (PAY) was lauhched.
1982-12-00 Low Power (K57CD) Channel 57 (which might have relayed channel 52 in Los Angeles, even ONTV's progrmaming since sign-on) signed on in Poway-Ramona/San Diego. It was announced as a new LPTV station on September 16, 1980; the FCC granted the licence for the station on August 20, 1982.
1982-12-17 CBS Cable signed off.
1982-12-29 Cinemerica was dissolved.
1982-12-31 KCOX 2 moved to channel 24 on the Cox system the next day; by this time, it was showing mostly tepe-delayed USA Network programming on cable 2, which became USA Network full time the following day on the Cox San Diego system.
