1999-00-00 the New York City broadcast verison of WWOR-TV feed that was uplinked by National Programming Service, LLC (for satellite subscribers only) was dropped from satellite (except for Dish Network subscribers for the local New York station package and as a superstation package subject to blackout).

1999-00-00 M2 was rebranded as MTV2.

1999-00-00 Starz! Kids (PAY) was launched (year unknown).

1999-00-00 Starz! 2 (PAY) was rebranded as, became Starz! Theater, then Starz! Edge on March 25, 2005.

1999-01-01 The Biography Channel was launched.

1999-01-01 DIY (Do It Yourself Network) was launched.

1999-01-11 CBS Eye on People was renamed Discovery People.

1999-01-15 VH1 Smooth was rebranded as VH1 Classic Rock.

1999-02-01 Prevue Channel was renamed TV Guide Channel.

1999-02-02 Noggin was launched.

1999-03-01 Nickelodeon Games and Sports for Kids was launched as its own channel, spun off from the Nickelodeon channel.

1999-03-17 NBA TV was launched.

1999-05-00 Starz! Cinema (PAY) was launched.

1999-05-00 Starz! Family (PAY) was launched.

1999-05-06 HBO Zone (PAY) was launched.

1999-05-06 HBO Comedy (PAY) was launched.

1999-07-14 The Military Channel (the first version) went dark. Discovery Communications filed a trademark application with the United States Copyright Office for the use of the name "Military Channel" in 2002. I'm not sure when that version of the channel signed on.

1999-07-14 TVG Network was launched.

1999-07-19 Fox's The Health Network was launched.

1999-08-02 XHTJB Channel 3 in Tijuana signed on.

1999-08-02 Discovery Health Channel was launched.

1999-09-00 Low Power Channel 23 in San Diego signed on for a month, then silent.

1999-09-00 Showtime Beyond (PAY) was launched.

1999-09-06 PBS Kids Channel was launched. It ran for six years.

1999-09-12 Fox Cable Network's Group purchased FitTV and merged it with America's Health Network, which was already owned by Fox Cable in a joint venture with Scott and Vandewater. The merged network was relaunched as The Health Network.

1999-11-01 Channel 49 Tecate signed on.
