10-17-1984: Donahue Countdown Calendar Fun Fact: When Phil won election to his parish counsel, who did he replace? Paul Shaffer guesses Paul Prod'homme; answer: Erma Bomback.

10-17-1985: Cold Open; Arnold Schwarzenegger offers Dave his jacket, but when Dave tries it on, the back seam splits open. Also: The Fugitive Guy Under the Seats: "A Pinch of Salt, a Dash of Death."

10-17-1989: Tonight's show is preempted due to coverage of the San Francisco earthquake, where NBC science correspondant Bob Bazell, reporting from Cape Canaveral at 1:30 in the morning, says that the quake isn't "the big one we've all been hoping for." The show airs a week later.

10-17-1991: Richard Simmons offers Dave a $25,000 check to be in one of his diet videos. Later in the show, Dave signs the check over to his next guest, Kathryn Harrold.

10-17-1991: Top Ten Slogans for G.E. Coffeemakers - 1. Coffee so good, it'll burn your house down!

10-17-1995: Via a live remote, Dave asks a customer at a nearby laudromat to take a pair of pants out of the dryer and bring them into the theater for Richard Simmons to wear.

10-17-1996: Rupert Jee gives toast-making secrets.

10-17-1996: The composite rerun guests: Jerry Seinfeld, Garry Shandling, and Paul Reiser.

10-17-1997: CBS Mailbag: (1) The Late Show offers President Clinton a jet-ski if he'll appear on the show; (2) a clip shows us that Alan Kalter was apparently in "Boogie Nights"; (3) a clip of Dave dancing to a musical act; (4) a clip of Dave getting rid of "Jets Suck" joke has continuity problems.

10-17-1997: Top Ten Signs Your Baseball Team Won't Be Playing in the World Series - 2. You best hitter's nickname: "The Sultan of Suck."

10-17-1997: Wacky guest Harmony Korine promotes "Gummo".

10-17-1997: WCBS features a pancake that looks like Paul Shaffer.

10-17-2000: Alan Kalter's Campaign Round-Up: Alan does "Who Let The Dogs Out" again, walks out, stripping as he goes. By the time he's outside, he's down to just his boxers.

10-17-2000: An "ad" for Time Life Video called "The Best of the 2000 Debates" contains unflattering clips of the debates.

10-17-2000: Dave says he might start his own book club.

10-17-2000: Every Tuesday morning Dave has to get up early in the morning and go to the dentist--that's why the Tuesday shows suck lately? The dentist apparently removes every tooth in his mouth and polishes each one; this takes forever!

10-17-2000: On Paul's second day back from illness, the two models "surprise" him with flowers to welcome him back (actually he rehearsed it with them).

10-17-2000: Subway Series Beat the Clock: external camera, Joe G's pizza: Dave wants a Yankees fan and a Mets fan to play, but people there are Seattleites, Californians, someone from Duluth (Minnesota), a Cardinals fan, etc. Dave finally gets a Yankees and a Mets fan together, gives them 30 seconds, and they lose, of course. The models appear in Yankees and Mets jerseys.
