10-31-1983: Halloween, 1983: From a maniac's camera point-of-view, Larry "Bud" puts a pumpkin on his face and stalks Dave with a knife. Meanwhile, Pee Wee Herman appears, dressed as a pirate. Frank Zappa makes his last appearance on the show.

10-31-1984: Halloween, 1984: The traditional Halloween Costumes worn by kids include the Landers Sisters, Nasty Bacterial Plaque, and a Record Company Weasel. Pee Wee Herman appears, dressed as the devil.

10-31-1989: Halloween Costumes: One that didn't make the cut in the first segment but seen in the second: Tiffany as Globula of Low-Density Cholesterol That Looks Like Popcorn.

10-31-1990: A relatively new area of hilarity, "Perspectives on the News" is explained, via videotape, by Tom Brokaw.

10-31-1994: Top Ten Signs You're at a Bad Halloween Party - 9. A guy from Domino's delivers a pizza -- and wins best costume.

10-31-1995: Halloween Costumes include a Westinghouse Nuclear Turbine, a Hershey's Bar That's Been Left in a Hot Glove Compartment, and CBS's Third Quarter Profits.

10-31-1995: Top Ten Trick-or-Treater Pet Peeves - 9. Black jelly beans that turn out to be blood-swollen horse ticks

10-31-1996: CBS Mailbag: (1) video clip on Dave's jacket lining, (2) "Biff the Headless Stage Manager" (see above), (3) spooky Late Show moments, and (4) Lenny, the sweaty and disoriented flight attendant.

10-31-1996: In honor of Halloween, Dave presents "Biff the Headless Stage Manager"; the problem, though, is that Biff is dressed as a Thanksgiving pilgrim.

10-31-1996: Top Ten Halloween Movies Playing in Times Square. Also, Dave tries to start bad rumors about President Clinton.

10-31-1997: CBS Mailbag: #4: Calvert plays the Grim Reaper and sings a Spice Girls song.

10-31-1997: CBS Mailbag: (1) a sign shows Dave where to stand during the monologue; (2) MCI saleswoman calls Dave on Halloween and scares him; (3) "former celebrities" re-entering the work force; (4) Calvert plays the Grim Reaper and sings a Spice Girls song.

10-31-1997: Clip of Paul in 1970's porno movies?

10-31-1997: For Halloween, Inky wears a clown outfit. Also, Dave gives a little girl trick-or-treater a cue card.

10-31-1997: One of the more hideous Stupid Human Tricks occurs tonight as Greg Laughlin sucks the inside of a raw egg into his nose.

10-31-1997: Stupid Human Tricks: (1) breaks crackers with shoulder blades; (2) comes down stairs on hands; (3) above; (4, bonus) levitates screw driver with air hose.

10-31-1997: Top Ten Signs You're Too Old to Be Trick or Treating - 5. When the door opens you yell, "Trick or..." and can't remember the rest.

10-31-2000: "Halloween Costumes": (1) Sam Donaldson with huge eyebrows; (2) West Nile Virus mosquito; (3) voting booth; (4) Calvert DeForest comes in, picks up a fish, and walks out; (5) kid (whose parents were too cheap to buy him a Superman costume) with a handwritten 'S' on his shirt; (6) Dr Scholl's cushioned insole support; (7) the computer key no one understands (Scroll Lock); (8) guy as Dave's car the morning after Halloween (TP'd, soaped up "Dave sucks"); (9) George W Bush and prisoner to be executed.

10-31-2000: Coming out of the last commercial break, the band is playing Steve Allen's "Gravy Waltz".

10-31-2000: Dave mentions Steve Allen, and stealing ideas from him, "but at least we acknowledged using his stuff" (reference to Leno?). Allen passed away at age 78. Later, when saying how he'll be remembered by his peers ("he had trouble talking sometimes"), Dave does a high-pitched imitation of Leno. Later, he does it again. ("On Dave's show they had a guy who ate too much candy--it makes no sense.")

10-31-2000: Dave mentions that Kenny Sheehan was in the "Ed" show last weekend; we see a clip of it. Also, Top Ten Signs Your House Is Haunted By a Lame Ghost - 10. When he "levitates" Your furniture, you can clearly see the wires.

10-31-2000: Dave pays tribute to Steve Allen, who recently passed away, and mocks Jay Leno, in a high-pitched voice: "On Dave's show they had a guy who ate too much candy--it makes no sense."

10-31-2000: Dave went to the dentist today. There's something in his mouth that's keeping him from talking; he has to talk around it.

10-31-2000: George Clarke is in the furnace room. For Halloween, he's gonna see how many candy bars he can eat before the end of the show. He starts out with a Twix. Later in the segment he's on the floor in pain after only four candy bars. In show segment 4, he's OK and on #13. (It was just acid reflux.)
