10-29-1982: It's a 90-minute special: The Amateur Talent Show. NBC employees display their skills, including one who sings to her goldfish while another, a security guard, is beeped during his performance. It's also the debut on-air appearance of future Head of Late Night Programming for CBS, Vinnie Favale.

10-29-1985: Today's first-run broadcast was first taped over six months in advance, on April 3, 1985. The original plan was to air the show in animated form, but the idea was eventually scrapped, and the videotape show finally aired on this date.

10-29-1987: Regis Philbin presents Small Town News while Dave goes out to do some chores. The band wants to leave, but Regis, acting as substitute teacher, makes them stay.

10-29-1991: Attempting another "Lightning Round," this time a quiz on Hair Care, Dave calls the Vidal Sasson Hotline; it's busy. Then to Clairol: busy there. Then back to Vidal Sasson: busy again. So Dave cuts the phone cord and gives phone parts to a British member of the audience. Later, guest guitarist Waddy Wachtel is given the quiz, one question at a time per segment.

10-29-1991: Dave called the Vidal Sassoon Hotline, but can't get through, so he instructed Gaines and Joe Gorta (stagehand) to cut the phone cord. Dave then gave away phone parts to a British member of the studio audience.

10-29-1992: Top Ten Reasons Clinton Is Losing His Lead - 2. More and more people like the idea of a tiny insane billionaire running things.

10-29-1993: James Earl Jones reminds us to turn our clocks back.

10-29-1993: Remote: Dave and Paul Play Golf. After the videotape, Dave summarizes, "We couldn't be bigger idiots."

10-29-1993: Top Ten Signs You Got a Bad Flu Shot - 3. You immediately fall asleep, and when you awake it's 2025 and your mission is to track down Wesley Snipes.

10-29-1996: "Deli of Terror" film with Dave and Rupert.

10-29-1996: "Late Show Halloween Costumes" includes a Biff Henderson costume.

10-29-1996: Top Ten Signs You've Hired the Wrong Kid to Rake Your Leaves - 8. Picks up leaves one at a time, dips them in nacho cheese, and eats them.

10-29-1997: As Rupert carves a pumpkin, Biff sneaks up from behind him and blows a horn in his ear. Yes, it's a brand new segment: "Let's Scare the Crap Out of Rupert."

10-29-1997: Guests Ellen Barkin ("Before Women Had Wings"), Bobby Bonilla of the World Series champion Florida Marlins, and Angelo Massagli, a 5-year-old actor.

10-29-1997: Halloween costumes bit includes a Regis appearance.

10-29-1997: Top Ten Complaints of the New Female NBA Referees - 10. Have to share the ladies' room with Dennis Rodman.

10-29-1998: Dave rants about the CBS CEOs not calling him.

10-29-1998: Guest Holly Hunter shows us her one-eyed dog.

10-29-1998: Know Your Current Events players Dave and Kate from Palm Springs are marathoners, while Lisa from Manhattan is a pharmacist.

10-29-1998: Top Ten Senior Citizen Complaints about Space Travel.

10-29-1999: Armando, an Army marksman, is sent outside to shoot CBS billboards with a paintball gun.

10-29-1999: Know Your Current Events category Know Your Major League Baseball Players Named "Chipper" is not chosen.

10-29-1999: Top Ten Things You Don't Want To Hear at the Bottom of a World Series Pile-on.

10-29-1999: We get to see the world's largest pumpkin (1131 lb).

10-29-1999: We see that a new CBS billboard shows half of Dave's face. Later, Dave sends Armando, an Army marksman, to shoot CBS billboards with a paintball gun.
