1972/09/04-Eastern (subtract one hour for Central Time)

Today marks the day CBS returned to airing daytime game shows, and the network landscapes of NBC and ABC would be radically altered within the next few years.

First off at 10am ET, 9am CT/PT is "The Joker's Wild" hosted by Jack Barry, narrated by Johnny Jacobs and produced by Jack Barry and Dan Enright Productions.

Next is the return of "The Price is Right" initially as "The New Price is Right" hosted by Bob Barker until 2007 with Drew Carey taking over, with Johnny Olson announcing until 1985 and others taking over, created by Bob Stewart and produced by Mark Goodson and Bill Todman Productions.

The final game show for now was "Gambit" hosted by Wink Martindale, with Kenny Williams announcing and produced by Merrill Heatter and Bob Quigley Productions

With those new game shows, reruns of "Family Affair" moved to 4 ET, 3 CT/PT. Canceled were reruns of "The Lucy Show", "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "My Three Sons". CBS moved "The Guiding Light" to 2pm ET, 1pm CT/PT, slid, at Proctor and Gamble's insistence, "The Edge of Night" up to 2:30 ET, 1:30 CT/PT. "Love is a Many Spendored Thing" was pushed back an hour to 3 ET, 2 CT/PT, and finally, "The Secret Storm" was pushed back 1/2 hour to 3:30 ET, 2:30 CT/PT.
