This Dave in History November 6

11-06-1985: Tonight's edition of New Gift Items includes a Bumper Sticker Display Rack, the A-Team Stunt Alarm, and the Jigsaw Camera. Film Coordinator Rick Scheckman provides an amusing piece of Late Night history by demonstrating the Shower Copier in the nude -- much to the surprise of Dave and everyone else.

11-06-1986: Chris Elliott promotes his Off-Broadway play, "Marv - A One-Man Show."

11-06-1987: Remote: Dave learns how to drive a New Jersey bus.

11-06-1990: Dave tries to call his mom for her recipe to Fried Bologna. After dialing the wrong number twice and then getting a busy signal the third time, he finally makes a connection, and mother Dorothy shows him how to cook his favorite sandwich.

11-06-1991: Dave instructs Kimberly, the NBC Page assigned to Late Night's Studio 6A, to go down to Hurley's restaurant and purchase 200 baked clams. She returns with 96.

11-06-1992: Having lost a bet to Marv Albert on the Olympics Dream Team, Dave buys him a new suit.

11-06-1992: Top Ten Things the Quayles Have To Do Before January 20th - 10. Fill out Dan's Dairy Queen application.

11-06-1995: Late Show's second visit to Los Angeles begins this week. When Dave says goodnight too soon and leaves the studio, Paul searches for him on the sets of "Grace Under Fire," "Larry Sanders," "Cybill," and "Roseanne," before finally locating him on the set of "Seinfeld" with Jerry Seinfeld and Jason Alexander.

11-06-1996: After Dole loses the election, Dave grabs the show's "Dole Is Old" jokes and throws them into a cab enroute for LaGuardia.

11-06-1996: Calvert conducts an exit poll.

11-06-1996: Dave does a puppet show in a voting booth.

11-06-1996: Long Tie Night. Also, "A Look Back at the Campaign" bit.

11-06-1996: Top Ten Ways President Clinton Celebrated His Victory - 4. Enjoyed a relaxing soak in a tub full of mayonnaise.

11-06-1997: Dave promotes an "orientation videotape" to Larry King's new wife, called "So You Married Larry."

11-06-1997: Dave throws a blue card at the audience, prompting a woman to fake whiplash--she ends up with a brace around her neck.

11-06-1997: Fake promo for PBS show "Lewis & Clark".

11-06-1997: Top Ten Saddam Hussein Pet Peeves - 6. When he catches himself cheating at solitaire and has to cut off his own hand.

11-06-1998: CBS Mailbag: (1) Dave and Inky have dueling magazine covers (and the Late Show Graphics Department takes a bow for the mag. covers); (2) Dave sends out a secret signal? (3) clip: Dave is a "Big Brother" to Biff; (4) Dave and Martin Short dance to "Zoot Suit Riot".

11-06-1998: Guests Governor George Pataki and 17-year-old president of Bumble Bee Tuna (Evan Metropolous). Also, Top Ten Hit Television Shows in Iraq.

11-06-2000: "Bob Borden, Official Polltaker" is a funny bit. Before the bit, Bob sits in the guest chair. He has moved up from receptionist to writers' assistant. (He passes out memos.) He's from Steubenville, OH; he lived in Hoboken for the last 5 years; he takes the bus in to work. He's not married and not dating. After the bit, Dave re-examines the video tape: there's a guy in the background running while pushing a cart.

11-06-2000: Ball State University Fighting Football Cardinals Fighting Football Highlights: They played Western Michigan on Saturday at home (Dave Letterman Stadium). Ball State hits a FG, and then it's halftime. The final score: the Western Michigan Broncos won, 42-3.

11-06-2000: Campaign 2000, sponsored by the most powerful man in show business: CBS president Les Moonves. ("Les enjoys golfing, horseback riding, and romantic cruises on the Mediterranean. Now back to you, duckface.") This is the last installment of C2K before the election. Paul's favorite memory of C2K is the 10th or 12th time he said he had nothing. Maria has trouble picking her fave memory. C2K is to be on tomorrow night from when the polls close until every race in US is decided? If the election is tied, Clinton stays President, Dave says. The 2 models bring out flowers for Paul and Maria. One marathoner comes through (woman winner--2:25:45). Then the male winner (whose time was 2:10:05). The sponsor is the most powerful man in show business, CBS president Les Moonves. ("Oh and hey gals, he's a former actor." Clip of him "acting", touching his head. "Les Moonves, the most powerful man in show business. Now back to you, you giant sack of manure.") [Right after C2K, Calvert walks through with a marathon runner number on.]

11-06-2000: Carpenter Harold Larkin opens the side door to check: apparently there still are people running in the marathon.

11-06-2000: Corky pays an audience guy, reimbursing him for the Late Show merchandise he bought.

11-06-2000: Male and female NYC marathon winners Abdul Kator Elmo-Waziz (sp?) and Ludmila Petrova (sp?) run through at end of monologue. Dave wonders why they ran through together. Dave wants them to run through separately but they run through *together* again.

11-06-2000: NYC Marathon Update: Kate Adler, VP of Creative Affairs for Worldwide Pants, was the only Late Show staffer to run this year. She had a personal best time of 4:16:54. A clip of the marathon reveals that Biff, while driving, hit a runner?

11-06-2000: The night on which the big Late Show Presidential Debate was planned finally arrives. At least Don Rickles shows up, but he does not "drop his pants and fire a rocket".
