It's also Kathy Michalcik's first night working on the show as an intern, as she accidentally destroys bumped guest Edie McClurg's coffee mug backstage.

12-17-1985: Dave's Record Collection include "Marching With the Beatles," "How to Buy Meat," and "Lavendar Jane Loves Woman."

12-17-1986: Tonight, two Top Five Lists are presented: Top 5 Dr. Suess Characters or Americans Being Held in Latin American Prisons, and Top 5 Holiday Greetings From Around the World.

12-17-1987: Chris Elliott is Marlon Brando as Santa Claus, while his elf, Kukla, pulls his sleigh into the studio.

12-17-1991: Dave calls Meg Parsont at Simon & Schuster. The Boys Choir of Harlem perform in her office.

12-17-1992: Top Ten Reasons Dan Quayle Would Be an Asset to a Large Corporation - 10. Well rested after four-year vacation.

12-17-1997: We see Bill Clinton's new chocolate Labrador "Buddy", played by Gerry Mulligan. Leonard Tepper plays Clinton, and Secret Service Agent Phillips is played by a dog with sunglasses, or vice versa.

12-17-1998: Dick Clark's Rocking Countdown to December 18th. [1] Also, Casey Kasem's Countdown to Dick Clark's Countdown to Dec. 18th.

12-17-1998: Know Your Current Events player Jeff is originally from Niceville, FL, or so the Germans would have us believe.

12-17-1999: Cameraman Joe goes outside (as does the Turkish guy). The temperature is 45 degrees--quite mild for December.

12-17-1999: CBS Mailbag: (1) Dave's name changed to Regis? No, says Biff. (2) Ten years ago, Dave picked out Inky as if he were a Christmas tree? (3) The Late Show Carolers mock the letter-writer's spelling errors. (4) Dave, in prison, played a prank on the guard.

12-17-1999: Guests Joe Breen (9-year-old, "Angela's Ashes") and Jude Law. Also, Hillary is still not booked, and we get the Turkish ping pong underwear guy again (twice).

12-17-1999: Top Ten Intriguing Facts About Albert Einstein (closing music: "Uncle Albert").
