05-02-1983: Throughout 1982, Bob Hope kept on appearing on Late Night as a surprise "walk-on" guest. Today, Bob makes a scheduled appearance, so audio guy Bob Rooney fulfills the walk-on. Bob to Dave: "I like your show; it's like a bus station."

05-02-1988: This week's reruns (due to the continuing industry-wide writers' strike) is devoted to Dave in special suits. Throughout the week, he'll be in suits of sponges, magnets, chips, velcro, and Alka Seltzer.

05-02-1989: Late Night begins a week of broadcasts from the historic Chicago Theater in the Windy City; every day Dave introduces Cubs legend Ernie Banks in the audience.

05-02-1990: In need of one more joke, Dave calls Johnny Carson, who faxes one to the show.

05-02-1990: Top Ten JFK Jr. Excuses - 6. Confused by typo: spent months studying for the bra exam.

05-02-1991: Top Ten Serial Killer Pet Peeves - 8. When you're hoping for a cool nickname like "Zodiac" or "Midnight Madman" and media gives you nickname "Tubby." 5. When you're a really neat serial killer and you have to move in with a really messy serial killer.

05-02-1994: Dave calls the pay phones outside and invites pedestrian Amy Butler to co-host the show with him.

05-02-1994: Top Ten Signs You're Not Going To Graduate - 2. Your essays are filled with words you've heard Madonna use.

05-02-1995: The Giant Flying Rat is introduced via lasers and special effects just after being interviewed by Tom Snyder.

05-02-1995: Top Ten Other Reasons People Are Suing McDonald's - 1. That ain't special sauce.

05-02-1996: All night long, Pat Farmer walks in front of the camera. Also, Top Ten Ways Phil Donahue Is Going To Spend His Retirement.

05-02-1996: CBS Mailbag: (1) an idiot on the internet; (2) Paul doesn't want to be Waldo; (3) a model car (a Ford) catches on fire; (4) Marv Albert calls a hypothetical game between someone and Jordan.

05-02-1996: The Roof Cam discovers two gas station attendants spraying each other with gasoline.

05-02-1997: Guest Justin Miller is a 7-year-old chef who has his own cookbook, while Chuck Berry plays a rockin' tune (with his daughter on harmonica).

05-02-1997: St. Louis backdrop and St. Louis Quiz. Clip of Cardinals/Mets game is a Cards homer. Also, Biff's Tour of St. Louis and Top Ten Goofiest Driver's License Photos from Our St. Louis Audience. Tony Randall is in the audience? In the last segment, we see a beer special effect.

05-02-1997: The entire audience is flown in from St. Louis, as Dave welcomes the city's mayor who gives Dave an arch made of luncheon meat. Guest Roseanne enters on Clydesdales.

05-02-2000: "What's on TV This Week" bit.

05-02-2000: All night long, via satellite, we see Kathie Lynn and Al Cordova ("America's greatest luggage salesman") from Preston Luggage and Gifts in Dallas. Al sells a utility bag.

05-02-2000: Campaign 2000, with Maria Pope. Dave thanks Lobell's for giving him a side of beef on his birthday. Maria's special guest Rob Burnett tells a story about visiting the Playboy mansion. Sponsors are Janet Reno, Maria Pope, the U.S. Census, and Richard Simmons.

05-02-2000: Top Ten Signs the Cast of "Cats" Just Doesn't Give a Damn.
