01-10-1989: Cold Open: Arnold Schwarzenegger tries to open a package of peanuts but can't, so Dave has to do it for him. Also, today debuts a new segment called "Al Maher's Box O' Thrills": today, sponges fall from the ceiling on top of Dave.

01-10-1990: Dave displays some features of the new backdrop: a barge towing backwards and forwards and Gene Shalit rising from the Hudson River; he's later replaced by Biff.

01-10-1990: Top Ten Defense Arguments of Noriega's Lawyers - 4. Was doing it all to impress Jodie Foster.

01-10-1991: A live remote for another installment of "May We See Your Holiday Photos Please" takes a wrong turn as Dave instructs the cameraman outside to first check a nearby restaurant and then, later, to a film theater showing "Anal Intruder" starring Ken the Cowboy.

01-10-1996: Due to El Blizzardo, Norm Macdonald is bumped for the third day in a row; this time he tries to get onstage but accidently crashes into a cellist who is still sitting with her orchestra after a performace by 11-year-old conductor Laurence Tai. Another lawsuit is born.

01-10-1996: Paul arrives late, as he had his tongue stuck to a pole outside. Later, we have the external camera (and microphone); Dave gets a guy off the street (Chuck from Staten Island), and the cast of "Cats" is brought on to warm him up. Later, Dave shows how paperboys fold papers.

01-10-1996: Sandra Bullock is an excellent guest (one of the best segments of the year).

01-10-1997: A CBS Mailbag question on the U.N. results in the show's 1,000th joke about Boutros Boutros-Gali, prompting a congratulatory call from the Secretary General himself, who turns out to be Tony Randall.
