01-12-1983: Paul celebrates his first #1 co-written song, "It's Raining Men" by The Weather Girls, who perform it on tonight's show.

01-12-1984: Limited Perspective: Thomas Caffrey, Director of the NY Posture Institute, along with the institute's chief posture analyst, Claudette Gazet, review "D.C Cab."

01-12-1988: Being extra careful this time with the phone, Dave hires surrogates to call the parking garage across the street. Included are Phone Technician John Keeveny, Dialer Joe Furey, Talker Barbara Sheehan, Attorney Drew Castner, Spy Dave Ganasky, and Fire Captain John Serato. It's all for naught, as Dave ends up destroying the phone with an axe, and the phone line goes dead once again.

01-12-1988: Top Ten General Electric Products in Development - 2. Zombie monkeys who operate waffle iron.

01-12-1989: Dave reflects on life by going to the Today Show set to play the piano, read a book, break Bryant Gumbel's cup, play handball on the U.S. Weather Map, wipe his brow with Willard Scott's toupee, and draw a picture of Bryant. Later, speed artist Conni Gordon and Dave create oil paintings of a clown.

01-12-1989: Top 10 Headlines in the Soviet Enquirer. 1. Psychics Warn: Yakov Smirnoff May Return

01-12-1990: Tonight debuts Simon the Singing ______ (animal varies), who is promised to sing "Blueberry Hill" but doesn't. Tonight, it's Simon the Singing Myna Bird. Also, after last night's Top Ten Reasons Eskimo Pies Are So Damned Delicious, the show gets 15 cases of the ice cream, which is passed out to the audience.

01-12-1993: Guest Bob Costas holds up a New York Newsday headline, which announces that Dave will move to CBS. Later, Bob and Dave aim footballs at a wastebasket in front of Paul's organ.

01-12-1993: Top Ten Campaign Promises Clinton Is Least Likely To Fulfill - 5. Gain no more than 10 lbs. a year.

01-12-1994: Top Ten Signs Your Shop Teacher Is Nuts - 3. If someone loses a finger, everyone loses a finger.

01-12-1995: Gifts for audience participants of Brush with Greatness include a photo of Tom Snyder, a CBS Page jacket, and potatoes brought in by Rupert Jee. Later, Rupert supplies the entire audience with mashed potatoes and gravy.

01-12-1995: Top Ten Ways Hillary Clinton can improve her image - 5. If all else fails, bomb the hell out of Iraq.

01-12-1996: "The Blizzard of '96" Quiz.

01-12-1996: Dave hugs an audience woman (and others); he hugs someone each time a joke doesn't work?

01-12-1996: Fake clip of Clinton blushing at the Whitewater Press Conference.

01-12-1996: Guest Justin Wilson (an 81-year-old Cajun cook) sings, cooks.

01-12-1996: It's the last day of "Norm MacDonald Bump Week"; Norm actually appears briefly in Segment 7.

01-12-1996: Top Ten Surprises in the O.J. Simpson Video - 6. Halfway through, O.J. gets pissed off and kills the guy interviewing him.

01-12-1998: Clip: Dave finishes off his New Year's Resolutions from 1997.

01-12-1998: Dave suggests how to improve figure skating.

01-12-1998: Robin Williams appears to promote "Good Will Hunting" on the same day I see the movie.

01-12-1998: Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham appear for the first of two consecutive nights, performing "Landslide." Mick Fleetwood sits in with the band.

01-12-1998: There's a new control booth team made up of Hooters women.

01-12-1998: This week and last week Dave is dressing more casually, as I recall (white socks). Also, Paul is back!

01-12-1998: Top Ten Least Popular Items in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Gift Shop.

01-12-1999: "Michael Jordan: A Look Back". (no appearances on the Late Show)

01-12-1999: "Small Town News" bit.

01-12-1999: Dave feuds with the control room (over camera angles, etc.).

01-12-1999: Guests Robert Duval ("A Civil Action"), Al Franken (Why Not Me?"), and B B King.

01-12-1999: Paul's cryptic fact about the millennium: "Forget Y2K, I ask 'Y 2 pay?' "

01-12-1999: Top Ten Least Valuable Sports Memorabilia.

01-12-2000: "Rejected FDA products" bit. Also, the ping pong guy and, later on, Art Donovan for a minute or two.

01-12-2000: At last, Hillary Clinton appears on the show. Before she does, Walter Cronkite shows up and asks Dave to "try not to be a jackass". Clip of people being patted down by "Secret Service" guys. Later, Biff, thinking the President is watching, eats an egg salad sandwich. Top Ten Questions Dumb Guys Would Ask the First Lady. When Hillary comes out, Dave eventually gives her a New York State Quiz. With somewhat lame delivery, she later reads "Top Ten Reasons I, Hillary Clinton, Finally Decided To Appear on the Late Show". Dave gives her a riding mower as we hear "God Bless America".

01-12-2001: "George W. Bush Standing Behind People" is an unfinished comedy bit in which we see stills of him behind people, including Donald Rumsfeld, Gail Norton, Michael Caine (from Old Guys with Giant Glasses), Secretary of the Treasury Paul O'Neil, and Paul O'Neill from the Yankees.

01-12-2001: As the show returns from the first commercial break, some woman in a coat (probably Barbara Gaines) is at Dave's desk.

01-12-2001: CBS Mailbag: (1) A hot dog vendor wrote "I love you" with mustard on Dave's hot dog; (2) clip of Dave on "Temptation Island"; (3) Pat Farmer gives advice to a male writer who is worried about looking shorter than his wife, who always wears heels, but why is Pat in a skirt? (4) "Biff Henderson's Carefully Scripted Phony Touching Moment" gives fake Giants tickets to actor pretending to be a lifelong Giants fan.

01-12-2001: Clinton Classic Joke is about Clinton's visiting a Sioux reservation and the Sioux chief's presenting him with a new intern. Right after the joke, a guy who's not Calvert wanders out.

01-12-2001: Dave calls Art upstairs, who has no weekend plans. He says he never goes out. He guesses Dave's weight on the third try (170, 172, 175). Paul says Art goes out clubbing every weekend, but Art denies this.

01-12-2001: Top Ten Ways the Army Is Trying To Boost Recruiting - 5. Superiors may now be addressed as "Dude".
