Message:I don't know. Seems to me that maybe David and Janet should have listened to their initial instincts. I thought about it today and they weren't even married more than a full year, were they? With all the trouble they went through living together, breaking up, getting back together, breaking up again, almost getting back together.....it's too bad they didn't just stay friends. Also, I had to laugh when Susan accepted Merle's proposal at the end of tonight's episode. She said something to the effect of, "Dad, I know you think we're jumping in quickly, but we've known each other for FOUR WEEKS and have spent practically all of the last THREE DAYS together!" Geez, Tom! What were you thinking!?

He was probably thinking: FINALLY--one of them is leaving home!

I don't think the writers quite knew what to do with David and Janet. If everything was going great with them, it didn't generate the ratings like problems would. I never understood why, with all their problems, David would demand that they start a family so soon. That would have just made everything worse, but I think the character David was jealous of her career.

Message:Yesterday as I was watching the wedding episode, I couldn't help thinking gee, Susan and Merle met on Monday's episode, and here they are getting married already! Talk about love at first sight! I guess since Susan Richardson was pregnant in real life they had to marry her character off real quick. I'm curious, does anyone know if the baby she has on the show was Susan's actual baby, or did they use another baby? I figure, if she had a baby in real life, it would make sense to have her real baby in the show too.

I think it was actually her own daughter.

I don't think it was Sarah (her real daughter). Sarah was born several months before the TV baby. Susan was just a small person & was several months pregnant before the show had to be concerned with it.

Message:I'm looking for information about the episode
(movie?) where it was a double wedding of two of the girls. The minister gave a beautiful reading by a philosopher named Aristophanes about how when you are born your soul is only half and you search you whole life for your other half. It's been a while since I saw it, but it was really beautiful and would like to use it in my own wedding. Can you help me? I've been looking everywhere for this information. Thanks in advance.

To set things straight, it was a double wedding for two of the Bradford children, but one of them was their eldest son, David, and their middleest (strange word I invented) daughter Susan. If anyone runs across the words to the wedding, could anyone please transcribe them and post them here? Thank you.

Sorry for the delay, but I been watching the Padres shut down the Giants and literally keeping Barry Bonds at Bay....which is not far from Sacramento.
But enough about baseball, my Pads have the day off, but here it is...
-----------------------------------------------
Today I've been given the opportunity to perform the happiest and most gratifying of cleric's duties, to join in holy matrimony, two people...four people...who have chosen to make a lifetime committment to each other.
The Greek poet Aristophanes once theorized about the quest of love. He said that in creation, humans were created as one being, half man, half woman. At birth these two halves were separated, torn apart and placed in separate wombs, and from that time of birth, these torn halves searched for each other. That is the quest of love, and when the quest is over and love has been found, there is a marriage, the joining again of these two halves into one whole being.
Here today we witness this holy reunion. David and Janet. Susan and Merle. You may say your vows now....

Message:I'm writing a book about TV weddings and would like to include the double wedding episode in which David and Janet and Merle and Susan get married. I've seen the episode more than once but am now looking for a tape. Do you know of any sources for individual episodes? Any collectors out there who might have it?
Any and all help is appreciated.

Message:I am trying to find the words that the minister said during that wedding episode. I am getting married this September and I can remember watching that episode when I was 8years old and wanting it to be said at my Wedding, (I'm now 25) . What it said was something like "at birth they were one and then seperated, it took all their live to find one another......" Remember this was quite a few years ago, so I really don't remember that exact words, but I wuold really like you're help in finding this wedding homily. Thanks!!!!!!
Editor: Please post on the messageboard the wedding vows! Thanks.

Message:According to the fX website, the episode "I Do I Do I Do I Do" will be airing April 15th, a Wednesday.
Synopsys: Merle and Susan decide to move up the wedding plans. The date is also the same one David and Janet have picked -- and fun begins.
Someone asked for a Real Video clip and numerous posters requested the wedding vows. I can do the transcription part, but could someone please do the Real Video parts as my computer can't record video.
I'm also soliticing sound clips from the show to post on my Eight is Enough webpage listed at the bottom.
It's the part where the minister said something like "When you are born your soul is only half, you search your whole life to find the other half to become whole."
If any fans can help, please e-mail me and I'll post the stuff.
Thanks
