Still about once a week I want to scream, "WHAT was I thinking!?"
They probably thought the carpet made the house with that many people look authentic. A family with 8 kids isn't going to have money for cosmetic improvements; not when the kitchen sink is always going out.

I agree with you on the green carpet. But with eight kids and I don't think that Tom wants to buy a normal color carpet.

I thought the green was terrible, too. But in the later episodes (The last two years maybe) the carpet was changed to a brown color. It looked much nicer because of the color and because it was obviously newer and in better condition.

I don't mean to bring this up again, but other than the house carpet being green there are others. Their telephone, their stove, counter top, curtains, the sofa etc. The color is blinding me. Does it bother anyone else?

Yeah, but not as much as that practically florescent blue carpeting and overall color scheme they had in their 2nd reunion movie. I practically had to wear sunglasses while watching it b/c it was so bright!

We called it avocado then, and it was the coolest color to have in the 70s. That and Harvest Gold. My avocado dryer survived until I just couldn't stand it and gave it away a couple of years ago. The gold frig is still working in the garage. The colors were in, but chances are a kitchen established in the 50s (like the Bradford's) would have used the colors acqua and coppertone. Maybe they remodeled.

I too remember the green and gold colors that were popular in the 70's. If anyone still has appliances that are these colors and wants an update, there is paint made especially for metal/appliances. As for the Bradford's green everything, it doesn't bother me. I watch because I enjoy remembering the 70's - the fashions, the decor and yes, even the green!

I got married in 1970. All of our appliances were "Avacado", including the phone! We also had green carpeting and curtains. It was fashionable then. You could hardly by any other color in appliances except white. Twenty years from now everything in your home will look dated, too. Just enjoy the show!

People, people......it's ok for viewers to write their opinions, positive or negative. That's why this forum is here. I'm sure that just because someone doesn't agree with the Bradford's color scheme, doesn't mean s/he isn't enjoying the show.

I agree. I'm sure they wouldn't bother posting if they didn't enjoy the show.

I noticed on Friday's episode that Tom and Abby had avocado green sheets on their bed!

Totally! and unfortunately my house also had that green rug and assorted green appliances of the late seventies. What were they thinking?.
