I am Lisa and I am in Los Angeles. More specifically, the San Fernando Valley. I live
up the street about a mile up from the old Bradford house.. the house used for
filming the exterior shots. The house is no longer there but I have many good
memories of when I would go by there and watch them film.

I was born the year EIE began, so I didn't see the show until reruns on the FX cable
channel. I instantly fell in love with it's realistic portrayel of family life in that era.
Thanks DT for an awesome website! EIE fans seem to be few and far between for
some reason.

recovered from her nervous breakdown and is it true, as I heard, that she is now
married to Don, her boyfriend of seven years that she mentioned in the 1998

Easter Greetings and a Story
Posted by Missy on 4/11/2001, 9:50 am
144.81.25.179
I'd like to wish you all a happy and blessed Easter. Here is a story I got off the net
somewhere about a year ago that I'd like to share with you; it shows the true spirit
of Easter:
After living a "decent" life my time on earth came to an end. The first thing I
remember is sitting on a bench in the waiting room of what I thought to be a court
house. The doors opened and I was instructed to come in and have a seat by the
defense table. As I looked around I saw the "prosecutor," he was a villainous looking
gent who snarled as he stared at me. He definitely was the most evil person I have
ever seen. I sat down and looked to my left and there sat my lawyer, kind and
gentle looking man whose appearance seemed very familiar to me. The corner door
flew open and there appeared the judge in full flowing robes. He commanded an
awesome presence as he moved across the room.
I couldn't take my eyes off of him as he took his seat behind the bench and he said
"Let us"The prosecutor rose and said "My name is Satan, I am here to show you why
this man belongs in hell." He proceeded to tell of lies that I told, things that I stole
and in the past when I cheated others. Satan told of other horrible perversions that
were once in my life and the more he spoke the further down in my seat I sank. I
was so embarrassed that I couldn't look at anyone, even my own lawyer, as the
Devil told of sins that even I had completely forgotten about. As upset as I was at
Satan for telling all these things about me, I was equally upset at my representative
who sat there silently not offering any form of defense at all. I know I had been
guilty of those things, but I had done some good things in my life. Couldn't that at
least equal out part of the harm I've done? Satan finished with a fury and said "This
man belongs in hell. He is guilty of all that I have charged and there is not a person
who can prove otherwise.
"When it was his turn, my lawyer first asked if he might approach the bench. The
judge allowed this over the strong objection of Satan, and beckoned him to come
forward. As he got up and started walking I was able to see him now in his full
splendor and majesty. Now I realized why he seemed so familiar, this was Jesus
representing me, my Lord and my Savior. He stopped at the bench and softly said to
the judge "Hi Dad" and then he turned to address the court. "Satan was correct in
saying that this man had sinned, I won't deny any of these allegations. And yes the
wages of sin is death and this man deserves to be punished". Jesus took a deep
breath and turned to his Father with outstretched arms and proclaimed "However, I
died on the cross so that this person might have eternal life and he has accepted me
as his Savior, so he is mine." "My Lord," he continued "His name is written in the book
of life and no one can snatch him from me. Satan still does not understand yet, this
man is not to be given justice but rather mercy. "
As Jesus sat down, he quietly paused, looked at his Father and; replied "There is
nothing else that needs to be done, I've done it all". The Judge lifted his mighty hand
and slammed the gavel down and the following words bellowed from his lips- "This
man is free -- the penalty for him has already been paid in full, case dismissed. "As
my Lord led me away I could hear Satan ranting and raving "I won't give up, I'll win
the next one." I asked Jesus as he gave me my instructions where to go next, "Have
you ever lost a case?" Christ lovingly smiled and said, "Everyone who has come to
me and asked me to represent him has received the same verdict as you ... Paid; in
Full.
Easter Wishes/Still Sick

Hi David & friends,
When last, I posted it was just b4 St. Patty's Day and I was telling you about my
bout with the flu and feeling under the weather. Well, I thought I was making
progress but 4 weeks later , I am out sick from work since 3/21. I literally, came into
work and could barely walk. It was the worst I have ever felt. Since, I last posted I
have been to 4 doctors. So far they have ruled out Lupus. r/arthritis, lyme disease
but can't truly tell me only that the blood tests and I have had so many that I feel
like a pin cushion showed positive for having epstein barre in the past. Oh yes, I also
tested negative for mono but if I didn't know better I'd swear its what I have. I am
no Dr but I feel I know my body better than they do and now for Dr (#5) this
Thursday. I go to an infectious disease doctor. Thank God, I do have medical
coverage but its so frustating and with Easter less than a week away, I thought I'd
be feeling like my energetic, healthy self. One thing is for sure that w/o your health
nothing else matters. My Mom (I thank all of my special eie friends and you know
who you are for the prayers last year) is now trying to nurse me back to health. D.T
if you don't want to post this since I know, its not really eie related, I will
understand but if you do, could I also ask for my eie friends to pray for my speedy
recovery.
P:S Whatever this malady is that I have it seems to affect my muscles in my arms
and legs so this is the first time that I have been able to type without crying in pain.
For the most part, I just rest, sleep and watch TV which gets kinda on your nerves
after a while but I did see a few nites ago on the game show channel, I think last
week or maybe the weekend, I seem to lose track of time, Susan Richardson on The
show "Match Game". She had that beautiful, radiant smile. I didn't catch the date
but I guess it had to be around the time of the show,. Well I, need to get some
rest,. I think I overdid it , I am wiped out right now.
Take care and blessed Holiday!!
Hugs and Thanks,
Nancy B.

Missy,
Thanks so much, it means alot. Did not have a good day the Infectious Disease
Doctor was a waste, wants more blood tests, Ive had it with all of these doctors!!
None of them can get to the bottom of my illness, all seem to be baffled and stupid!!
I am really sorry and if this is offensive to anyone on the board please try to
understand that after 9 weeks of being sick and in great pain. After I have medical
coverage taken out of my pay each week and then have to pay a copay and then
go to these Drs who ends up charging the insurance company $200 a pop, only to
spend a few minutes w/me and not able to make a diagnosis or give me any new
medicine that might help me. No just let me suffer while you drove your mercedes
and Lexuses!! I am really fed up!! D.T its up to you, if you decide to print this
I just don't have anywhere else to vent and all I do is cry to my Mother. Please
forgive me right now because I am having a hard time coping with being sick,
worrying about my job and yet more tests, I feel like a guinea pig!!!
. I know we all have crosses to bear but it seems to me that some suffer more than
others. I sometimes wonder if this isn't hell that we are living right now!!

through, but just try to hang in there if you can and hopefully one of these doctors
will finally be able to identify and take care of what's going on with you..In the
meantime God Bless you and take care and I wish you all the best.

re:I seem to lose track of time, Susan Richardson on The show "Match Game". She

That was either 1978 or 1979. Susan was a combination of Cheryl Tiegs, Farrah
Fawcett, and Peppermint Patty (as a grown up).
I did say "no embarrassing posts". I said nothing about "off topic" posts. Please share
your interests on this board just to at least keep this board alive since there's not
that much EiE to talk about until they pop up on TV or something.
This Easter, a question on the Millionaire show had Regis asking what was there
Eight of in the question.
Sorry for the long lag in postings, but for the past month, I was literally busy with
websites of some of my other subjects taking a dump and me having to move them
around the Internet, plus some heated arguments with Tripod over spam I did not
send and my accounts being dumped. I since moved some of the Celebrity Birthdays
to my new site. Check it out.
I'm also doing a daily news feature at davesfunstuff.com where I talk about the
happenings of San Diego radio, TV, and music on the radio among other subjects.
The hot subject has been Internet radio, or the lack of it in light of threats by
ASCAP to bill the stations' advertisers for additional fees if the radio stations play
their commercials on the Internet. Belive it or not.
My step father had a health scare recently when he mixed two medicines together
and his face was swollen red. My mother had to take him to Emergency. He's doing
better now.
As for the state where I live, Californastan (coined by Roger Hedgecock of KOGO),
our dictator governor, Gray-out Davis, is messing with the state budget and utilities
to the point where the state budged is bankrupt, spending tens of billions of dollars
for electricity imported by the greedy electricitiy generators like Dupe, Reliar, and
Dynutgy. Not to mention, everybody is being socked with high electricity prices...and
it's going to get WORSE this summer! Thanks to lack of power plant building, we're
out of electricity here and we had rolling blackouts last month.
Also last month in San Diego, two high-school shooting took place. One teenager
took the lives of two students one day, and another teen shooter was shot by a
policeman before he could do anything serious.
My website below also has links to news sites off the main page. Check it out.
God bless you all

Hi D.T and friends,
First of all thanks for your concern and well wishes. Went to my PCP and he has put
me out till 6/21. He thinks its either a virus or cfs (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) , told
me to read up on it and look into support groups. The prob with cfs is that there is
no difinitive test and you have to have the symptoms for at least 6 months to fit the
profile. Someone from work recommended a neurologist at Temple Hospital in Phila.
At this point, I haven't decided to take that route yet, they say that they are more
progressive and state of the art than Jersey. Oh well, I will keep you posted. I might
just get rid of this mystery illness on my own. I am off all the prescription meds
since, I also like your stepdad has an adverse reaction, I was taking prednisone
which is pretty powerful steroid
along with vicodin a painkiller and an antibiotic. Now I am only taking vitamins and
aspirin. I was never one to take vitamins, but if you , D.T take any or know anything
or if anyone else on the board has info to share regarding different vitamins, please
post and let me know. I figure , It can't hurt and maybe just help speed my
recovery.
Today for the 1st time, its not hurting when I type on the computer, This is a good
sign. Mom went home yesterday after staying w/me for over a week. She did
everything for me, laundry, cleaning, shopping, cooking as well as putting up with a
thirtysomething daughter who went thru crying episodes and screaming fits of
frustation at times. I do feel like a am making a small improvement. Thank you Lord!!
Now to change the subject, geez D.T , I will be praying that things change for the
better out in Ca. There seems to be no relief in sight for you. I wonder how folks on
a fixed income, the elderly , unemployed can survive with the electricity costs!! Its
really a crime and sad for working people like yourself that works so hard and others
are getting rich. What is wrong with this picture? It's also a sad state of affairs that
kids must fear for their lives when they go to school each day. I am so glad that my
school years are behind me. Well, I will keep you posted, D.T keep up the great work
you do!!
Hugs,

think I recall reading that in Biography magazine but don't hold me to it.

John,
Hi and hope you are doing well. Guess what? I finally caught the "E" channel special
on the life of Barbara Payton. I missed it when it had originally aired. I was channel
surfing and it was on again several nites ago. I must admit that I had never heard of
her until you mentioned her name. Really sad that someone with so much promise
left this world too soon, so young and such a waste!!! Well kudos, for all your hard
work and research on this starlet. Enjoy the holiday weekend John, D.T and friends
and please drive safely!!
P:S I am doing better and looking forward to going back,to work next month. Thnx to
all of you for your prayers.
Hugs,
Nancy

Thanks very much, Nancy for your nice note. As you can tell, I haven't been visiting
the EIE board much lately and I hadn't seen your post until now. I appreciate what
you said about the E! show on Barbara Payton. I really enjoyed the experience. I am
currently trying to set up an interiew with former actress ROZ KELLY (Pinky
Tuscadero from HAPPY DAYS). She has had a lot of medical and legal problems over
the past few years and I would like to try and get her "side" to what's happened to
her life and her career. Wish me luck! I hope you are continuing to recover and
feeling better every day. As always, I wish you the best-

Hi D.T, & eie buddies:
just wanted to drop a mesaage to say I think I am slowing recovering from this
illness which is still a mystery. I have gained my stamina and am having good days
this week with minimal pain. One day last week I felt almost like my old self and tried
to overdo it, was in so much pain!!
So, I am taking my Dr's advice to take it slow, and to try to learn patience. It
certainly has changed my priorities and perspective. The bottom line is that health is
truly wealth and I for one took it for granted and this just was a wake up call that
one day it can be taken away. So I am still taking my therapeutic vitamins and my
mental outlook is much better. Well thanks for being a sounding board for me and I
hope to be back to work by June. Thanks again for the well wishes it really helped
get me through the months of hell!! Looking forward to a full recovery and staying
health!!
Hugs,
Nancy B.

Hi there:
This past Monday, my sister in Texas gave birth to her second child with her
husband Bobby.
It's a baby girl, Natalie Rene, being born at 8:08am. She weighs seven pounds and
two ounces and is about 20 inches long.
Looks like I'm an uncle once again. Their son Nathan is already four years old.

Joanie is to be visiting with her mom in Dallas, TX about now (6/14/01). She & hubby
live in Malibu, CA, and are currently building a new house "out in the woods". I
understand that she now directs films/movies. I know Joanie through my dating one

first(?) movie, 'Smile'.
The actor who was responsible was Geoff Lewis who was one of the main actors in
the movie.
Van Patten/Half Italian

Last night I watched Biography. I loved it!!
I never new Dick Van Patten was half Italian.
This is what makes him so truly great!
He is half Dutch and half Italian.
I am exactly the same mix.
He is lucky he had his Dutch name Van Patten.
Because an Italian name may not have gone over
very well. (I have witnessed discrimination.)
Dick does not look Italian. But this mix,
makes him so well rounded and well loved.
Italians have contributed more to this World
than another Ethnic group or Civilization.
I have changed my last name.
My Mother is Dutch. Her maiden name is Van Hood.
I would certainly love to meet Mr. Van Patten.
It is a coincedence that in 1985, on my way to the
aiport and driving through Beverly Hills I saw and
waved to Mr. Van Patten. He was right next to me
at a light. It was definately him, in shades driving a red, 2 door mercedez.
I sure hope I get to meet him one day.
A heck of a guy!

Hi there. Had to post to say what a great message board! I grew up watching Eight
is Enough in Australia, though I was pretty small when it was on. It just seemed very
real to me, and very warm, so I guess it's why it has remained in my memory for the
past 20 or so years. I can remember being extremely upset when Mrs Bradfor died,
and I only found out on the weekend it was because Diana Hyland really passed
away with cancer. Made me incensed to get on the net and find out some info about
the show!!! So here I am. This is a great site, with some very genuine sentiments
from people, it's woken up some good memories.
PS My fave was the eldest... Lani O'Grady. I'm also the eldest of 8. I actually saw
her as a bit of a role model when I was growing up. It's wonderful to hear that she
was special to other people too.

Betty Buckley's manager and web site

Who is Betty Buckley's manager? Does she have one?
With all the talent she has it seems that if she had a decent manager she would be
getting a lot more movies and starring roles on broadway. I also notice that her web
site isn't very aggressive. I mean it misses stuff she does on tv and other places I
read about stuff she does and it is never on her site, and the links on her site are old
there is one about snowflake lynn buckley and that she was taken into hiding or
kidnapped (I think it is supposed to be funny). The site that is linked isn't a good
representation to be connected to her site. has anyone seen what I am talking
about lately?

I find Ms. Buckley's website very informative. True--rerun schedules of old movies
aren't always posted. However, any time she makes an appearance on national TV,
it's posted on the web site in advance. For example, her recent appearances on Oz,
Rosie, etc. were posted at the web site. Ms. Buckley probably controls the content
of the site, so she has the webmaster post what she wants included. There's also a
fan club at Yahoo.com that lists when her movies run on TV. You might want to
check there for that information.

I'm not trying to pick but I am talking about personal appearances that never make it
to her web site like the recent broadway barks that was a fundraiser in nyc. No one
reading her site would of known about it so how could her fans go to it? Her website
i would think would want to be part of her promotion of her career, but this happens
with events she's at not always listed.
I also think her manager must not try to get her work very much or she would have
a lot more work on Broadway. That is just my opinion so please do not take
offenses. Peace Kim

It was there when I posted my other post. Maybe the webmaster realized after he
read my post and removed it or somebody else told him or something like that. I
checked the link because I didn't believe the site would still be listed if it was that
snowflake ebonics stuff but it was which surprised me because I just figured the
webmaster knew where all the links on the site went, but I guess they didn't know
where all the sites went because it was still listed then which is why I brought it up
as a topic in the first place because it kind of surpised me being there and all. I think
it is good that it has been removed.

NEW HUMOR BOOK FEATURING "EIGHT IS ENOUGH"!

Has anyone gotten a copy of "T.V.'s Other Guide: The Lost Final Seasons To
America's Favorite Retro Shows" by Joel Starkey? It is HYSTERICAL! It's a satirical
book which covers eight shows from the past, including "EIGHT IS ENOUGH", and
offers a "lost" final season, giving a 22 episode synopsis of each show. Also in the
book are interviews with the characters. From "EIE", Abby Bradford is interviewed.
VERY FUNNY! I heard about this book through word of mouth and picked up a copy
on barnesandnoble.com. I've also seen it on booksamillion.com. If needed, the ISBN
number is 1-88393898-8. It's definitely worth having!

Hello out there. I'm doing an article about drug humor in pop culture and seemed to
remember an episode where while the parents were away the kids thew a big party.
Willie almost fought some guy over a messed up girl's honor and in the last scene the
returned parents ate some pot brownies (left over from the party).
Can anyone confirm any of this, my mind is stuck in a rut.

Tom and Abby unaware of it ate Hash Brownies.

I saw the E Entertainment story on EIGHT IS ENOUGH and they really made it appear
as if Susan had a severe breakdown and that the Korean story was completey
fabricated. But when I found this site, there seems to be some belief that she was
actually telling the truth. What is the whole story on this event? Didn't the E story
state she was kidnapped and held by Korean Filmmakers? And yet I read somewhere
that if she was involved with Koreans, it was related to her use of drugs. What really
happened??

Hi Bill,
When I was working with Susan last year on her story she told me that she'd been
held captive by Korean film makers who had hired her to act in a film they were
producing over there. She claimed that they "lopped off her hair" and "jimmied with
the brakes of her car" (her words) to try and cause her to have a fatal accident so
they could collect on a multi-million dollar insurance company they had taken out on
her....Unfortunately, Susan and I have lost track of each other for the past several
months but I do hope that someday we may reconnect to continue working on
getting her story out there in a straightforward and accurate manner.

so... what did you all think of it?? I am sure happy I finally got to see it! Thanks for
the reminders. I am sure there are others here who missed it the 1st time..(?)
I wish it had been 2 hours instead of 1 hour. But it was good, considering how much
they had to cover in one hour. I would like to know more about Susan.. and about
Lani. It must be a few years old.. because I dont think Lani is working in an office
anymore.. or is she? Wasnt that Jensens office? And also Lani has since been seen
on another interview show and didnt seem too well.. but I think she is doing better
now. And the part with Willie Aames.. I have memories of him and "8" filming at my
college (L.A Valley College in Van Nuys CA) and I would buy his cigs for him. He was
a year younger than me and a year away from being able to buy them himself. So, I
made a friend.
Adam's story is sad. I hope he is doing better these days.
I sure hope to see the show in reruns again somewhere!

Hi Nancy,
Thanks very much for your nice comments about the Barbara Payton episode of
Mysteries & Scandals. Believe me, I appreciate them, very much! I signed the option
contract with that LA producer over seven months ago (to do a film on Payton) but
so far, it hasn't happened....
She has yet to secure financing for the project, but she's still out there trying. Gina
(the producer) says that these things ALWAYS take time (sometimes up to a couple
of years!), but of course, I want it to happen right away! In the meantime, I have
been busy submitting articles to film and entertainment magazines (my next one, on
1960's LA pop singer Jody Miller, is coming out in October, in OUTRE magazine) and I
have a few new ones lined up, too...though none, sadly, with Susan. I haven't heard
from Susan in a VERY long time and don't foresee that changing....I'm afraid we've
"lost track" and I have no idea where she is or how she's doing, but I do wish her the
best (as I think we all do here), and I hope she's healthy and happy and doing great.
I hope you're feeling well these days, too, Nancy. Give us all an update when you
have a chance...How's your job going? Hope you still enjoy it, and also hope your
Mom is well.
Thanks again for your note and as always, I wish you the best,
Sincerely,
