Lani really enjoyed being a regular on "EIE".
She was particularly close with Dick Van Patten.
She along with the cast and crew were also very fond of Diana Hyland, and were
very sad at her passing. Lani was also fond of Adam Rich and
enjoyed watching him grow up. Lani & Dick
pitched in together one year and bought Adam a bike on his birthday, and presented
it to him on the set. She along with most of the cast would
have gladly commited to another couple of seasons
on the show, the ratings were good. One key
cast member though wanted to call it quits, and
the producers didn't think the show could fare
a cast change, and hence the show came to an end.

It is nice to hear Lani's thoughts about her experience on the show. I get the feeling
she wasn't particularly fond of Diana Hyland's replacement, Betty Buckley. If so, it's
too bad -they appeared to have good chemistry on screen. Although she doesn't say
it, she seems to hint that maybe Betty didn't want to continue with the show. This
is certainly new, because everything I've read always indicates that the entire cast
was taken by suprise when the show was cancelled.

I don't think they cancelled EIE because of Betty Buckley... From everything I've
read, Betty yearned to return to her musical roots but was bound by her contract to
remain with EIE. Just when she had come to terms with it emotionally (that she had
to stick it out), the show was cancelled. One of those ironic (and happy for her)
twists of fate. Wonder how her career would have progressed had she not been
available to do "Cats"?

Everything I've heard points to bad ratings as the reason for the cancelation of EIE.
And that's too bad, because I was a big fan-and EIE was a big part of my
adolescent years.
Had the show run another season or two... Betty Buckley's musical career would
have been just fine without Cats. However I'm sure that show gave her career a
definite boost! :-)

Hi everyone!
Lani called saturday night, she's
Happy, and for the first time in her life
she has absolutely no plans to do anything!
She has just finished completing a quilt,
believe it or not! She also has been weaving
and doing pottery a few times a week at one
of those "Pottery" places.

as I have said, I am glad to hear Lani is happier these days. I hope she is feeling
better physically as well. Also, I read an old post once where someone asked why is
she selling jewerly instead of acting again? That she can make much more money
doing that instead of selling jewerly at the beach or whatever. Well sure I would love
to see her in something again. But what is most important is her happiness and you
can't put a price on that. Money ISN'T everything.. at all. If she acts again, is she
doing it because she WANTS to or is she doing it just for the money? So, I think
what Lani is doing is following her heart. If/when we see her in something again, we
will know she is doing it because she really wants to. Meanwhile, she is doing
something(s) that brings her joy. And thats what I like to hear!

I worked with Susan on her Teddy Bear Club. I have a question about Lani, but

It is so nice of you to start an email
group. It's also kind of you to think so
highly of Lani. I feel the same way you do,
she is such a talent and was always my favorite
person on the show. I never thought I would grow up and become friends with her
out of an ironic chance meeting. I just wish I could persuade her to return to the
biz. I do apologize for

Anyway, Daniel... you are lucky to get to be friends with her. When I met her, I
thought she'd be a great friend. But at least I am happy I got to meet her.. not
once but several times. They filmed at my college... plus I live not far from the
Bradford house. So I'd go down there and hang out sometimes. Good memories. I
agree with you.. what a talent she has. Has she said why she isn't interested in
returning? Well, figure it this way: she already gave alot of herself.. for years on the
show. Plus she was surrounded with all that with her mom and her brother, her whole
life. So maybe she just simply wants to get away from that now and live a regular
life, away from the business. But, on the other hand.. IF she still loves the business
and there is another reason why she is held back from it, I hope she can resolve it
and return to what she loves to do. If it brings her happiness. Meanwhile, it's nice
that you are able to be a friend to her.. and personally. I hope she is doing well.
Tell her that her fans love and care about her and ask about her all the time.

Yeah, I wish she'd return to the biz, but at the moment she has no desire. She says
she's accomplished all her acting goals! At this time in her life she needs tranquility!

Hey Wow... well, that is a nice feeling tho. To feel one has achieved all their goals
in a certain field. Well maybe in time, if she feels she wants to branch out and fullfill
new goals, she could return to the business at some point. Would be nice, huh? Or
maybe she could teach acting, or direct, or get involved in theatre. Heck, she's still
YOUNG! I have barely started living my life.. and I am only 5 years younger than
her.
But yes.. I agree on that right now what she needs is time to herself, to rest and
heal.

Lani has taught acting in the past, most
recently about three months ago. She's not
teaching at this point though. I do believe
that one day she will be acting again, but at
the moment there are no burning desires. For
a while there she was trying to establish her
own Agency (for actors), her mom owns the
Mary Grady Agency (MGA). She went through
some trying periods, and now that is no longer
an immediate goal. I can tell you this though,
that when Lani finally does decide on what she
wants to do, look out! cause when she's
focused, she's is one of the most determined
people I know. I've seen her in the Zone
before when she was trying to establish her
Agency, she'd stay up all night just working on
the smallest details. I'll try to call her this weekend to catch up on the latest news.

I didn't know Lani was teaching that short a time ago. I knew she had taught acting
but I thought it was a long time ago. Does she teach privately or thru a school or
workshop? Anyway, and Yes.. I can see she is the type that can be very determined
and will succeed in whatever she chooses to do. She has that "fire".
One of the reasons I asked if she teaches privately or thru a school is because I had
this funny dream last night that I was taking an acting class and Jerri (from
Survivor2) was in the class and we were all doing this comedic take-off of "Survivor".
lol!

Actually I haven't followed Survivor 2 that closely .. I will be following Big Brother
tho. But I have watched a few eps... and my fave is Elizabeth. As for who will
win.. I think Colby will. I liked Roger.. sorry to see him go. But Jerri.. I think the
reason I drempt about her in a play is because I saw some ET segment where it tells
that she is in a play right now at the Beverly Hills playhouse. She is getting back into
her acting, apparently. As for me.. I'd like to get into acting.. am thinking of taking a
few theatre classes this fall. I love theatre. I also love improv. What style of acting
does Lani teach? I mean does she specialize in a particular style? But yea.. I act.. I
act UP! I'd like to get into comedy.

Lani was teaching an adult class, i didn't ask
but i'm sure it was method. Yeah, take a theater
class or get into an improv group. It's fun &
you never know where it might lead. If Lani
ever teaches again, I'll let you know. It would
be the perfect way for you to meet her.

Where does she hold classes? Thru a school or privately or a workshop or what? I
would love to meet her and learn acting from her. I am also hoping that maybe
she'd want me to make an official website for her someday.. or make the one I
already made for her "official" at some point. Then I could work with her on what
ideas she'd like imnlemented on her site. I recently finished revamping a company
website.. it's something I enjoy doing and would do it because it is a hobby of mine
and because I love Lani.
I am shocked at Robert Downey jr... man oh man.. it's not enough to be on probation
but now has to get himself arrested again! He can;t help himself AT all. I hope he
can get extensive treatment and they don't just lock him away

I just remembered something about Lani that I had heard from someone "in the
know", way back when 8 was still filming. I don't know if this is true info but this is
what I heard.. that she loved collecting Groucho Marx memorabilia. Daniel, do you
know if this is true? It came to me last night and maybe I will remember more. This
was a loooooong time ago, ya know. Ancient history! Along with the dinosaurs,
Atlantis, and the Summer of Love! I am ooooolllld! On April 29, I will be ...
GASP!... 41!!!! Horrors!

Hi Lisa,
I've never seen Groucho Marx memorabilia in her
apartment. But she has a lot of stuff in storage,
since she has move so many times in recent years.
She does have a lot of EIE memorabilia hanging on
her walls. She's known so many important people
through out her life. She's friends with John Ritter, Quincy Jones & Jamie Lee Curtis.
Hanging on her refridgerator is a picture of her brother
& her when they were kids, sitting on the sofa.

remember hearing she had dogs..
Well maybe you can ask her someday about Groucho Marx. I guess that interest
faded. This was over 20 years ago so.. ya know. ;p Man, time flies when you;re
having fun.. or even when you're NOT! lol! But another 2 trivia items I remember..
and this is from my OWN eyes: she smoked Doral brand cigs.. does she still smoke? I
just recently quit and am smoking herbal cigs right now.. And she used to drive a
white VW convertible. Cute car! That is my dream car. Only mine would be blue.

Lani's last name is actually Grady
like her Mom & Brother, (you know who
her brother is right?) She just
added the O' for flare!!!
She doesn't presently have any pets,
she loves dogs though, and had a dog
named "Wolfie" She no longer drives a
V.W. She drives a Red Car!
I've never seen Lani smoke. So she
must have given up that habit before
I met her. My favorite color is blue
also, my eyes are blue, my car is blue,
& i'm now painting the trim on my house
blue! Last season I had a short lived
fascination with orange, & painted the
trim on my house orange! It's looks great
but now I'm over it! haha!

I just thought of yet another trivia item.. I should put all these on my website
sometime soon. This is from something I read a loooong time ago in 16 magazine.
Anyone remember that mag? Well... O'Grady isn't her real birth name. It's "Agrati"..
but sounds like O'Grady and is more hollywood friendly, I guess. Thus was changed.
Remember, this is just what I remember reading. If I am wrong, it's not my fault! ;p
